This may not be a bad thing but the marketing clearly thinks otherwise
Kasskonnen: means made in CHINA. This may not be a bad thing but the marketing clearly thinks otherwise. This could be because a similar but higher priced product actually is made in Germany which this product is shamelessly pretending to be. So what can you expect from a vendor who intentionally seeks to misinform for profit? It is a very roughly made basket. I spent a good 15-20 minutes sanding off rough edges and little thread like pieces of rattan I did not want in my dough. It is neither symmetrical or uniform in its construction. Will it be serviceable and workable for its intended purpose? Yes. However buy the cheapest one you can find as it is neither European as the name suggests, or crafted with a great deal of care or attention to detail. It is a cheap basket from China and you ought to pay accordingly.

Great, traditional proofing basket!
I love making German style rye bread with this. I love the pattern it makes on the loaf. Flour it heavily and let your dough proof in it before you turn it out into your dutch oven. Just like the bread I used to buy in Germany!Edit: I should add that if you're using a knead free method, your dough will be softer and wetter and may stick in the basket. The first time I used this, the bottom portion stuck to the basket (despite flouring it). Fortunately I was able to peel it off and plop it back onto the rest of the boule without too much damage. The next time I made bread, I kneaded in a bit more flour after the initial fermentation (and allowed it to raise again), so my dough would be a bit firmer and dryer. That seemed to solve the problem.

It works
I used it once and baked the loaf inot a Dutch oven. The dough stuck a little to the bottom of the basket even though I put a lot for flour. Maybe I'll use more flour next time. But I heard the first time using a basket it'll be more sticky with the dough. Should hopefully get better with time. Seems well made and should last a while. Has some fuzzy splintered parts but nothing stuck in the dough.

Works well so far, but this is not made in Europe.
I have only used this twice so far, but it worked the way it should. It seems well made. It has the same staples etc. as others, but they are not obtrusive. However, do not be misled by the "Comply with German Food, Articles of Daily Use and Feed Code" blurb into thinking that this is made in Europe. There is nothing on the product indicating its origin so I called the company to ask. After an awkward pause..."Well the material is from Indonesia, and it is made in CHINA.

Excellent quality, performs as expected
Purchased in January 2016 - buying a second one today and prompted to write a review on prior purchase. Excellent quality, performs as expected, and has been relatively easy to dust with rice flour before putting in sourdough to proof before baking. Have had no problems and nothing but excellent results. Am buying second 9" brotform as I currently am using a 9" and a 10.5" and would like to be able to make 2 identically sized boules.

Very nice Round Brotform Basket
I use this Round Brotform to raise my sour dough crusty bread. It bakes beautifully with the indentations of the basket on the top of the bread. Be sure not to bake bread in this basket, as it will burn. Use something else to bake your bread on. Easy to use just dust with a little bit of flour which allows your raised dough to fall our without sticking to the basket, when you're finished with the basket just brush it out with a small brush. Don't wash it.

Great for whole wheat loaves
Product is well made and as described. I do find though that the no-knead bread I make doesn't rise as much as in a large bowl and makes a more compact, denser loaf. I will use these for whole wheat loaves and heavier breads but will continue to use a bowl to achieve a lighter larger loaf for white bread.

The right tool for the job.
Years ago before these were fairly common in the US I learned to bake sourdough rye bread in Germany. When I returned I couldn't find any of these forms, so I made do with various substitutes which sort of worked, but mainly didn't. Now that the price and availability is right, I have several and baking life is good again.
