This book/pamphlet is a good summary of basic Roman Catholic beliefs. It explains the parts of the Mass and why the Mass - the celebration of the Eucharist - is central to Catholic belief. There is also a chapter on Mary and her special place in Christian tradition as the Mother of God. It is a quick read, 30-40 minutes or so. It is not a substitute for the Catechism of the Catholic Church or, of course, the Bible itself.

I found this "Mini Edition" to be a great introduction into Catholicism. It gives you just enough information to get you longing for more. It also touches on the many rituals and why they are an integral part of worship, as well as the life of a devout catholic. I fully intend to purchase the complete version of this book!

This book really explained the Catholic Church in a very easy to understand for a non-Catholic! I would recommend this book if you are wanting to understand the Catholic church and their customs. I read it in one sitting and enjoyed it.A. Gregerson

As someone who has never been to a church service in her life, I was hoping this book might help me better understand a religion practiced by a huge percentage of this world. It was in many ways very helpful. There were some parts that weren't clear to me, which is why I gave it four stars (I still don't understand what a Monsignor is, along with several other items from that particular part), but for the most part it was a very informative work written in a manner that wasn't dry, which I appreciate.

Good read that successfully attempts to provide simple explanations of Catholic ritual, dogma, and hierarchical structures. Being the mini edition, I was left wanting. However, learned a lot from a good quick read.

Found this brand new at a thrift store for $3.00. Good for someone in RCIA.

Oh yeah! I use this with my classes - 5th grade and older, RCIA, Youth Ministry group, and parents! It's a great tool for those 'brain fart' moments when you know, but cannot remember, the official answer - and I always carry my pad with me (sometimes the book is a burden)
