My brother and I felled a large spruce tree that had overgrown the front yard of our parents home. We had no real experience with all of this, but some practical knowledge. We purchased a Worx electric 18 inch saw from Amazon and this chainsaw mill to try cutting planks from the logs. We assembled the chainsaw mill from pictures of an assembled version; we attached the chainsaw to the mill and fastened a 1 X 8 board lengthwise on the log, but only for our first cut. We fastened the board with long screws, stopping to remove/reposition screws out of the saw's path, as we cut. It worked flawlessly! We had our first live edge log! Now, we can use the planks to make furniture such as tables, benches or even a porch swing - something to help us remember the large tree that was a familiar site when we grew up in the same house. Well done. An affordable, effective and fun alternative to more costly methods.

I have used this to make a couple of planks now, and overall I am satisfied with the purchase. The tool, in general, has a good quality feel to it, and it was easy to assemble (despite the very poor instructions). I am using this with a Husqvarna 440 18" chainsaw. It is defiantly underpowered, but it will get the job done. (I live in Alaska, so I am using it on spruce. Anything denser and you would defiantly want something with more power.) After making one slab, I went out and purchased a ripping chain, which made the process way faster. I HIGHLY recommend that you get a ripping chain if you plan on using it very often.

Best purchase ever! Bought this for my husband so he could slab out some walnut that he had cut down for some friends. He’s like a kid in a candy store using this!

I bought this for my son to cut log cutting boards. He likes it.

I wish the bolts to tighten the bar where flip around so tightening was little easier. But not to big a deal.

The cast aluminum part that has the V notch that raises the saw cracked after the first cut. Poor design!

Easy handling and works as advertised. Remember it’s not made for 100 year old trees! Lol

Very useful and gets the job done. However there are some very poor welds causing a bolt to come loose
