Digitally remastered edition of the Soul singer/songwriter's fourth album, originally released in 1980. Syreeta began collaborating with Stevie Wonder after meeting him in 1968, penning songs such as 'It's a Shame' for the Spinners and the musical partnership led to their 1970 marriage; in 1972, Wonder produced her self-titled MoWest debut LP and her 1974 album Stevie Wonder Presents Syreeta. In 1977, Motown released One to One which featured production by Leon Ware and Curtis Robertson Jr.. (Syreeta's second husband). The 1979 unexpected UK (and then US) success of 'With You I'm Born Again,' a duet with Motown label-mate Billy Preston (from the film "Fast Break") brought Syreeta international recognition. In the wake of the now-classic hit, Motown arranged sessions for what would be Syreeta's fourth solo project, working with producers Jerry Peters, Richard Perry and Hal Davis.

as good as it was, even better
What a lost talent and sad that she is no longer with us. I have kept a few LPs even though I haven't had a turntable in years and this was one of them. I was amazed that it was re issued and I hope that maybe some new fans will find and enjoy her like I did back in 1980.

"Syreeta" captures many sides of this talented singer-songwriter
Great to have this available on CD though wish there were some bonus tracks. The clear production helps all the tracks and a few of the quiet tracks really emerge including "Here's My Love" and "Let Me Be The One." Syreeta's version of "Blame It On The Sun" builds beautifully and "He's Gone" and "Please Stay" are also great tracks.

SYREETA, YES, YOU MUST PURCHASE THIS.
Syretta is in perfect voice, her re-make of "Blame It On the Sun", is worth the purchase alone. I'm so excited that this CD has been re-released.

Where is Syreeta? We need more of her!
Syreeta, once married to Stevie Wonder, had four aces in her hand with this album! Her voice, with its range and smoothvibrato, take your breath away! She can (could) work any song and make it hers. She is (was) tops!

not remastered
My previous review was deleted my Amazon. the producer of these CD's needs to be exposed. this CD has not been remastered at all. it sounds dull, flat and lifeless throughout. just dreadful. audible sound "muffles" can be heard on the song Let Me Be The One in two spots.

Another Solid Effort from Syreeta
Rumors abound that many of these were left over tracks for Diana Ross' follow-up to the Richard Perry produced "Baby Its Me" album. That isn't necessarily a bad thing because the tracks like "Let Me Be the One", "Love Fire" and her cover of Stevie and hers "Blame it on the Sun" which ironically Diana would also cover stunningly a decade later on Diana's massive comeback "The Force Behind the Power".

The perfect vehicle for an underestimated singer
Syreeta, formerly Rita Wright, the talented songwriter and singer with the delicate alto-soprano voice is best remembered for briefly being the wife of Stevie Wonder and her Nº1 UK smash hit ballad with Billy Preston "With You I'm Born Again". In what is her best album since her first two albums in the early 1970s, this Richard Perry produced concept album is a slick mixture of soulful ballads, uptempo disco tunes like "Love Fire" and romantic ballads and includes the Stevie Wonder penned "Blame it on the Sun" which was also done by Diana Ross in the early 1990s and Tata Vega (The Colour Purple) in 1977. The version of Bill Withers Let me be the one" is completely different and more emotional and positive than the original. Apart from one track - the third one on the album - this is a polished effort that displays the vocal range of this much overlooked singer who, by the way, almost became one of the Supremes to replace Diana Ross. The singer produced two more studio albums with Motown until retiring from the record scene but none of them reached classy sophistication of this album.
