100 Funk/R&B Lessons: Bass Lesson Goldmine Series

Great series of Books
All the books in this series are great to work out of. When you buy a Bass book you need the meat, and these have it. With over two hundred pages you get plenty to work on and its broken down into 100 lessons. Do the math...$21.00 divided by 100 = 21cents a lesson, how can you go wrong. The books present exercises that are not over complicated, you get some theory and you get audio tracks online to match up with the lessons. Remember these books are tailored toward different genre. Funk, Jazz, Blues, Rock - Must have for your library.

Funk.
This is an essential Funk book. This book includes great bassline examples in the funk music style (obviously). Every sub-genre of funk is represented as far as I can see. This book also features the different playing styles of seminal funk bass players such as bootsy, flea, victor wooten, Louis Johnson, and many more.

No CD's are included
CD's are NOT included as stated . I just received the book so the review is not based on content just the fact the the description states 2 CD's included . They are not . Online audio access is included . Haven't checked it out yet . I would have preferred CD's .

Funk/R&B bass lessons - excellent study aide.
I already have several of the books in this series, mainly for guitar as I’m really a guitarist, but as I picked up the bass around a year ago and haven’t been able to put it down decided that I ought to put some serious study time in.I really like the way these books are arranged. There are 100 separate lessons which really just touch on the individual topics but are a great starting point for further study and reading. The initial lessons work on basic technique such as timing, feel, pop & slap etc. Then as the book progresses it looks at more advanced techniques such as chords, double stops, etc. Finally it looks at the work of some of the greats e.g Bernard Edwards, Marcus Miller, etc. Each chapter has audio samples that are available on the the Hal Leonard website. The samples start with the full band (played along to metronome) including the bass so that you can listen to how it is supposed to sound then the bass is removed so that you can play along with the band yourself. I actually prefer the logging on method to CD as once you are logged on to the website you create your own library using the access code from the book. As I have several books it’s easy to access all the audio tracks this way. You have the option to either stream or download them.Overall I think these ‘100 lesson’ books are an excellent study aide, my only criticism with any study book like this is that it’s preferable to have a coil bound copy so that he pages stay open without having to weigh them down. Despite that, highly recommended.

Me gusta mucho!!
Hola!!
