IPO Smart Walk Slim Tread Folding Treadmill Intelligent Speed Control Compact Under Desk Treadmill

This is where the wheels come off. Our first Smart Walk arrived in a box that looked like it came out of Granny’s attic. The machine condition was used at the best. More like really used. The machine ran a bit here and there. My wife was able to get 2 1/2 miles before it died completely. UPS pickup was the best thing that happened to that one.The replacement Smart Walk arrived a week later. The wife got an intermittent 2 miles before it died.I am a machine design engineer by trade. Like I said, the machine concept is good. The design-build execution is very very bad. We won’t be getting another. Fool me once, shame on me... Fool me twice, bye bye. WK

I don't even know where to start with this one. I have been buying stuff since 2003 on Amazon and this has been the biggest pain in the neck. The concept is great, the design is beautiful, but it simply doesn't work. The first time I received it I tried everything but the power wouldn't turn on. I boxed it up and had UPS pick it up the next day for a replacement. Amazon and UPS were both very responsive on returning the item.Ok, the replacement came and I set it up again. Did the whole silicone lubrication on the belt and turned it on. E6 Error!! Did a hard reset and it worked fine. I used it for the first time and it took a couple of minutes to adjust the speed setting. Now while a good concept this isn't very practical or safe use of a treadmill. Walked about a mile and a half and it suddenly stopped with such a jolt that it almost threw me off. Again E6 error. Used it a couple of times and the same thing happened, it either overheats or has a power surge but the motor can't handle the stress on it. Weight and floor surface were both according to mfg spec.By that time I had made the mistake of throwing out the box since it took up so much space. After contacting Amazon services they assured me that UPS will be willing to take the equipment back without the box, However, UPS refusedto take it without the box. Finding a box that that size and that could handle the 100lbs weight of the treadmill is next to impossible but managed to piece up a few boxes to accommodate this piece of junk. When contacted Amazon, they assured me a full refund and schedule a pickup date with UPS. By this time UPS tried everything to dodge the pick up by leaving "sorry we missed you' slips without even making an attempt to contact me. This charade went on for two weeks and I believe both parties were hoping I would give up, but $800 is something I'm not willing to part with that easily and have this junk lying around as a constant reminder of my folly. Finally after 100s of phone hours finally sent this box on its way but never got a full refund from Amazon as I have been given written assurance I would. So I'm still short $175 as of today.So the lesson of this is: This product does not work and keep the box because you will be returning this item. Amazon customer service though you were nice enough to give me a partial refund shame on you for lying to me!. As for UPS and their evasive tactics, this went straight to corporate and I assure you would become a case study for poor business practices.Once again I urge you to be careful when using this product as it is dangerous and could cause harm. Buy it at your own risk. The right thing for Amazon would be to take it out of the listing but all I see is price cuts on this junk.

I purchased this treadmill about 6 months ago. It no longer works. I purchased the extended warranty, but Square Trade will do nothing about this until the 1 year manufacturer's warranty runs out. There is no customer service phone number. I emailed the address listed for IPO Smartwalkand have never received any reply. Do not buy this treadmill!
