Stain came off onto toy then stained my baby’s face
Negative experience on the brown storage unit. While it’s stored safely in the playroom with AC - so no storage issues - we have had this product for a few months ago. My baby took her grasp ball out of the storage bin to mouth/play - and her face/hands got brown wood stain on it that took multiple washings with soap vigorously to remove from her face because her ball somehow got stained from the storage until coating. Otherwise it’s a practical storage until but beware of potential for toy contaminants from brown wood coating

Really?!?!
I bought 2 of these to store my toddler's toys and gave them 2 stars only because they will serve their purpose. I was hoping it would be a fairly stylish way to mask the mess, but I was wrong. The boxes are more industrial than stylish (unless industrial is your style of course). The bins are sturdy enough but simply don't look as nice as I had hoped. They are espresso colored, but it is a solid color... nothing wood looking about them, so they clash with our other furniture. Also, as others have stated, there are no covers for the silver screws. By simply adding covers of some type, or even dark colored screws, the manufacturer could bumped them up a notch in style and completely changed the look of these bins. I am going to try to find some wood plugs to stain and cover up those ugly screws. Also, both bins came with some damage (smashed corners/edges). The damage is on the front and the bottom of the bins but is somehow (thankfully) in a location where it will probably go unnoticed by others. The bins were very easy to assemble. They only took me about 20 minutes and I assembled them alone. Unfortunately it is very easy to strip the screw holes, so you have to use a very gentle pressure when tightening the screws. I wish now that I had put a little wood glue in each hole to hopefully increase the life of these units.I fully expect them to get banged up, dented, and probably chewed on by my son, so the poor quality doesn't upset me as much as it would otherwise. These WILL serve the purpose of storing toys for a toddler, but they aren't worth $65 each. I feel like I got ripped off. I wish I would have spent more and purchased something similar from a place that pays more attention to detail, but I keep reminding myself that they are only for toy storage. Finally, the bins smell terrible. I think it is an odor of adhesive maybe??? Or from the packaging??? They give off a sickening smell of packaging tape. I don't really know how to explain it otherwise, but we have to open the windows and air out the house today. I felt terrible because the odor in my baby's room is so strong after having his bedroom door closed all night. I'd move the bins out to the garage to air out, but I'm afraid the humidity might ruin the fine finish. ;)These bins would be great if you don't mind the screw holes and if you don't expect them to stay looking nice. But like I said, they will serve their purpose if you can get past the rest.

Stackable, large cubbies, perfect for any room
We bought these in the espresso color. These are the best toy storage units. I love that they stack, there are no containers to dump, and the sections hold bulky toys perfectly. One thing to note is that the edges around the openings will get some dings and scratches to the paint. We have had our first set for almost 3 years and bought a second set just under 2 years ago and through all that time and with 2 boys, I would have to say the "damage" is minimal and it's really just around the openings from putting toys in. All other surfaces are fine. I still love them because their shape and function is perfect for what I wanted and the dark color helps them not stick out too much. I didn't expect them to not get dinged and scratched though. I think eventually I might touch them up with a little paint or a furniture marker, just to make it less noticable.Only problem is that we discovered the finish melts off onto certain toys. I can't figure out why or which surfaces it happens to most. The first time I noticed it was when we were playing with some soft flexible plastic toy dinosaurs (similar to the material of bath squirters) and there was sticky brown paint on all of them. I'm not sure if it's a reaction between certain materials or if length of contact has anything to do with it (we had not played with them in a long time and they were at the bottom of the bin). I think it happened 1 or 2 other times but I forget what kind of toys they were. It's something we keep an eye out for but haven't seen it in a long time.

Great for price
Was super easy to put together. Deep pockets. I’m definitely going to purchase another. There is no strong smell at all, like previous reviews so they must have changed something. Also I got espresso so you can see they gave us dark screws, you really can’t see them. The pictures are so you can see sizing. I think it was a great purchase

Great product for the price
We ordered this piece with the additional piece that can be stacked on top. First, the quality for the price is amazing. This piece was a cinch to piece together and went together well. Packaging was good; there were no scratches, dents or dings on this piece at all. There are two cons: The smell is pretty strong. I almost wonder if it's not formaldahyde or something similar in the wood. It's very strong and hasn't dissipated in the four days it's been in our living room. The second con is that the instructions say that hardware is included to bracket two pieces together. This is true--the caveat is that apparently they are expecting you to stack two of the same pieces together. We purchased the bookcase-type piece to stack on top and each of the pieces came with brackets to connect the same piece. There were no cross-style brackets. All in all, I am happy (wish the smell wasn't a factor). The three bins took the place of three fabric bins AND two large plastic tubs that were full of toys. My 17 month old clapped and laughed when he saw what daddy had built for him.

Lots of space for storage
I bought this furniture to store toys for my kids playroom. Nice looking, stackable with other similar storage cubby, can hold lots of stuff but be aware that it could be scratched easily, so ideal for soft toys, like balls, stuffed animals, baby soft cubes... As we have a lot of Hotwheels, Playmobils, and other little toys that could scratch, we have gotten the expresso cubby with baskets from the same company (found on an another site) that I stacked and the combo works well. The finish is painted brown and not "wood-like", very similar to Ikea style. The screws are visibles, so they included stickers to cover them ( it would be nice if the kit would came with painted dowel instead). The cubby is sturdy and easy to assemble, the holes fit together nicely when assembling. When I opened the box, there was an odor, but gone in one hour. For the price paid, I'm satisfied.
