Safety first
I really like the sturdiness of this product. It also has a really good grip. Bought these for my two grandsons who turn 16 soon. Hope they never have to use it.

First shipment was missing one
The first shipment of this only contained 1 item. It is supposed to be a 2 pack. Also, it was in a. plastic bag vs in the boxes my replacement ones came in. Returned and received replacements today. I’m guessing the first order was used or something. The replacement contains two boxes, so hopefully they are going to be ok.

Very convenient
I hope I never need to use this but it looks like it will work. Since I can't prove it until I use it, I guess I have to pray that it does work if/when needed.

Saved My 8-Year-Old's Life
I was driving in our minivan alone with my three kids on the interstate when I noticed my 8-year-old had wrapped an unused seatbelt around his neck. When I asked him to remove it, we realized it was locked and would only take in slack, not let go of slack and he was stuck. The problem is it was tightening and taking in slack and we couldn't get it unlatched. I pulled over at the next exit and by then he was crying, having difficulty breathing and turning red. I ran around the side to unlatch the seatbelt, but because it was the smaller latch plate for the middle row, center seat and too tightly nestled in between the seats to reach, we were unable to detach it. We were all panicking, my trapped child was unable to speak easily and the nearest gas station was about a half-mile away. I knew what I had to do. I purchased this tool in 2008 - eight years prior - after watching a news story about how handy and life saving they could be. It has followed me from vehicle to vehicle for the last eight years with this single purpose - to save the life of my child on that August 2016 day. I grabbed it from the console and with two easy tugs it sliced through the seatbelt like butter while protecting his neck from any sharp part of the tool. I was talking with my child recently and he said "Mom, you should write a review on Amazon! Tell them I give it five-stars because it saved my life!" Done.

Standard Equipment
This should be standard equipment in anyone's car. Just try to imagine driving your car into a canal or pond, slowly sinking to the bottom (pitch dark of course, maybe with a baby in the back...). Or imagine witnessing a car crash, car catches on fire with someone inside, doors won't open, seatbelt won't come off quickly. Or a baby/dog locked inside a car. It happens every day, and it's costing lives -- it's that simple, and we all know it. This LifeHammer is one of those things you hope you'll never need, and most people won't over their lifetime, but if you ever do, you're gonna be happy you spent the money on it (or thank whoever gave it to you).Installation is easy with a couple screws. I usually don't alter or add anything to my car interior (like to keep it 'original'), but this is the only exception I make (one on either side of the center console, near driver's/passenger's foot, in my case). I guess you could keep it loose in the glove compartment or somewhere else, as long as you can grab it in seconds in the dark while stuck in your seat trying to not freak out...Stop thinking about it, just get a couple of these. They're a household name in Europe, should be the same in the US.

Have a window in your car?? Then you need to purchase these!!
After the early morning crash here in Charleston, SC, that caused the drowning deaths of 3 adults & a dog, it really alarmed us. They were ALL locals who were avid fishers & boaters, yet, sadly, they all perished in the water of a deep creek off the Stono River right near a marina.. Here in Charleston, we are very "land-limited" being right off the Atlantic ocean, nestled among major deep water rivers that access our ports. In addition we're surrounded by lots of barrier islands, marshes, tidal creeks, lakes, and more. This summer like every summer we've also heard about the deaths of many children being left in hot, unattended cars. So, this purchase was LONG overdue. Like my hand gun, it's another device for safety that I pray I never have to use. Love the fact that it's glow in the dark (DON'T put in your glove box as it wont't glow). The 2-pack was a bargain price compared to e price of one so I highly recommend getting the 2-pack. Even if you only need one, there's someone out there that could use it.. I purchased the 2-pack for my husband & myself. We're both real estate brokers & spend about 80% of our time on the road here where we are covered with bridges and navigating above the water on any given day!!

Being prepared is always smart.
I plan to secure this to my inner door panel. You'll want this mounted in a place where you can easily grab it if your vehicle ends up rolling for some God-forsaken reason. Keeping it in your glove box or anywhere free in your vehicle could put it out of reach after the chaos of a terrible wreck. If your seat belt locks you in place and you can't reach your Lifehammer, or you don't know where it is, then you'll wish you mounted it. The provided holder makes this easy to do if you have a drill and some hardware.
