P Tec Products J-Block Vent / Wide Mount Vent Brown

Needed extra length of pipe to accommodate for extra thickness of 2x4's and drywall to complete the installation. Diameter of supplied pipe makes for difficult installation of the dryer vent hose. Companies that make these vents with 4 inch diameter pipe should make less than 4 inch diameter to accommodate the vent hose from the dryer. Wish Companies could get out of the 1960's mindset. Houses now have insulated basements and the tube length should now account for the extra required thickness.

Received the no-pest dryer hood from deerso. The seller (amazon) delivered product as promised. The no-pest dryer vent hood appears to be working good so far. However, I only had it about a month now. My only concerned is, I am from upstate New York, in the winter it can get pretty cold and snowy/freezing rain etc. I question the functionality of this product during those extreme conditions. I am concerned that this product may freeze shut in the dead of winter and not open at all causing a possible fire hazard in the dryer. I contacted Deerso/P-tec (manufacturer), they said they ship this product all over the world and have very few complaints. When I told them of my concern, they said, that the ambient temperature from inside the house which some gets stored in the vent pipe leading to the dryer hood will somewhat help that from freezing. But went onto say that during those extreme conditions you should check the dryer hood first to make sure it is not frozen shut by freezing rain, ice storm or snow build up before starting the dryer. This dryer hood does a good job keeping out unwanted pests like birds, bees, and rodents. I did not notice any difference in drying time because I had my dryer taken apart and cleaned and serviced, then installed new flexible rigid steel vent pipe. If you want to improve your drying time and really save money, or notice that your dryer is taken longer and longer eating up that precious electricity to dry your clothes and towels etc. try this; If your dryer is a few years old, have it serviced by an authorized service technician and taken apart and cleaned thoroughly to removed all lint from lint trap and pipe leading to exhaust (you will be surprised of all the crap that is in there even after a year). Then have him install a new rigid flexible steel vent pipe (do not use the flexible vinyl crap) from the dryer to the dryer hood. There is also youtube video on this if you are somewhat mechanically incline and would like to save money and do it yourself. Good luck.

Works as designed and does not bump out unless in use. other units have a bump out deflector this one does not and it keeps rodents and pests (insects) from gaining access or building a nest up in it.

I really love this dryer vent hood, and the idea that it is USA made. The product comes with a piece of flat sheet metal with a channel that locks when you make it a tube, so don't roll it first if you intend to trim it. I put a 4" hole in the stucco and continued to put a 4" hole in the sheet rock, making sure both holes used the same center point. I knew I wanted to use a dryer dock, also available on Amazon, so the sheet metal tube needed to be cut so it terminated flush with the sheet rock, while protruding about an inch to enter and lock in this dryer hood. In my application, I needed about 6" total, and trimmed the sheet metal easily with tin snips. The dryer hood was secured by four screws and anchors (not provided), which are hidden when the flap comes to rest. The interior was held in place by the dryer dock piece, although this product includes a plate that takes four screws (not included) for use in a different application. Everyone likes the look; it performs beautifully, when the dryer goes to work!

Took a little doing to install, but works well. I loosened my cedar siding to be able to slide the flange/flashing part up in behind against the sheathing. It was easier, though, to install the door part to the flange first. I then slid in the 4 inch pipe with the seam UP. Finally I slid the flange and door assemble up underneath sheathing and then slid in ( outward) the pipe to its receptor in the door piece. Note the tabs on one end of the pipe go towards the door and lock the pipe to the door piece. Air flow seems very good and double door closes tighter than old single door types. There is no screen to trap lint anymore.

As just for a dryer vent cap on my outside wall, it was fine. I only used the front side, (exterior) to complete the installation. The rear part I didn't need. In order to get the flap assembly completed flush with my exterior wall, I had to file off the small plastic tabs on the side of the cap facing the wall. Calked it and it looks and works fine. I only gave it 4 stars because I really didn't need the rear portion of the assembly that the vent pipe runs through.

Works for what I needed, but it’s pretty cheap material and isn’t worth what it cost. We will see how well it holds up in the elements.

I used the existing tube that went through the wall when I installed vent cover. It seems a little light, but it might need to be that way to open when the dryer is on. I had mice coming in through the old vent and so far it seems to be keeping them out. I had to use my own masonry screws, package didn't come with them. I gave it 4 stars because the package should have come with screws.
