Use to turn on closet light when door gets opened.
Works great so far (opened/closed door dozens of times).Per the packaging:The switch/magnet combo is BS-200. The controller (ie, the part with all the wires) is BS-201.Installed the magnet into top (about 8" from hinge) of closet door (the door swings out - ie, does not fold). The light goes out just before closing (you can watch the light go out, through the narrow opening, as you close the door - ie, the magnet is still almost an inch away from the switch). My fixture had no room for the (little) controller - so I mounted another electrical box inside the closet and put the switch inside of it.Note: the wires (#18 AWG - not included) get inserted into the black end of the switch and then get clamped into place via tiny screws. Very easy.

I'm using this to switch the LEDs in a closet and it works very well for that. Installation was easy enough; the switch is nicely concealed and it appears to be well made. The only drawback is that when the door is opened, this switch activates more slowly than some other proximity-type switches. It is usually 3-4 seconds before the lights come on.

Very happy.
Best switch you can buy. Works every time and very easy to install and it's almost invisible.

I liked the idea of a compact controller that fits into the light's junction box with a low voltage switch going to the door. We were doing new construction and we used pocket doors. Pocket doors are light so I wanted a switch that would not require much force to close. The switches power a two LED bulbs that take less than 20 watts total. The switches worked well for several months until there was a short term power outage at our house. When power was restored I discovered that both light controller were inoperative. I suspect that the controllers are unusually sensitive to power surges. We have a whole house surge protector and nothing else in the house experienced any damage so I am not absolutely certain that the problem was caused by a surge.I sent the controllers back to Betterswitch for warranty replacement. After 30 days with no communication from Betterswitch, I called and they told me that there was a new version and they were waiting for the first shipment and they would me send replacements as soon as they were available. After 90 days, there were still no replacements. I tried to call them several times during what should be their normal business hours. No one answers the phone and the voice mail boxes are full. I sent an E-mail, but have gotten no response.I'm beginning to wonder is they are going out of business. I see several other companies that make similar, but slightly larger controllers so I may be forced to evaluate my options. Since I elected not to have 120 VAC at the door installing a standard plunger switch will be costly due to the required drywall, electrical and painting work.

May be pricey, but worth it!
When we began our interior renovation last November, this included removing every single door and jam downstairs to lay tile AND square up the door ways. My husband is a genius! As we were redoing the pantry and closets, he suggests "robbing" the light switch since the doors were out so we wouldn't have to remember to turn off the lights once the door was shut (pre-teen daughter and myself always forgot to turn the pantry light off and the light under the stair well). Not to forget to mention he ADDED a light to the coat closet that was always too dark. Went onto Amazon, found these beauties, ordered 3 and they were installed pronto upon arrival. Coat closet, stairwell closet and pantry. Then ordered another 1 for the upstairs guest en suite bathroom closet to provide ease for our guests. I LOVE THEM!! Can't give enough accolades to the wonderousness of how simple they make my life. Open door; light is on! Close door, light is off! When you're in the pantry as much as I am for baking and cooking items (stay-at-home mom that LOVES to try new Paleo recipes) and NOT having to remember to turn off the light, especially when you're hands are loaded, is a spoiled touch. I love the Electric Door Switch so much, I am buying 2 more for the renovation process now beginning in our master bathroom. We are replacing closet doors with bi-folds....so onto the search for what lovely electric switch will work these new doors!

Reliable switch for the price
We use this product in custom kitchen & bath renovations to operate puck lighting in the cabinets. It has worked reliably over the years and we haven't had any problems.
