I don't know why but it was very oily. The inside of it and everything, but the outside was only oily at the bottom part of the spear head. It was still worth the purchase, but it be nice if it came in a nicer size or if the bottom could open a bit easier. It is metal or a hard item so it makes sense. I used the spear head to play as goliath in a play at my church, it was a day for the kids. :)

The socket is too small at .8" making a weak spot if you're using 1.25" dowels. The blade is also off center, and bent slightly upward.

These work great. Have a few for re-enactment combat.

The spear looks like the picture. I got it more as a prop for a reenactment event than for combat though
