Rebuilding Any Automotive Engine Step-by-Step Videobook (Step-By-Step Video Book) Paperback – September 15, 2009

This book with DVD is a great deal. The book has lots of color photos, is fairly detailed and is about as good as a book on general engine rebuilding can get without being specific about a particular engine. The book contents are very similar, if not almost identical to, the  How to Rebuild Any Automotive Engine (SA-Design) (Performance How-To) , plus it includes a DVD.The DVD included is from BoxWrench.net. I cannot confirm if it is the same DVD as the BoxWrench.net  Basic Engine Building  DVD, but the content covered is identical. There are tips in the video that I was unaware of. I especially enjoyed the section where Brent Bye demonstrates how to test for the correct gaps with connecting rod bearings during pre-assembly.Even if you buy this book and DVD, I would still recommend you get a book specific on the motor you plan on rebuilding. I'm working on a Pontiac V8 so I picked up the  How to Build Max Performance Pontiac V8s (S-A Design) .If I had to complain about anything, it would be that the DVD is not in widescreen format (it's recorded in letterbox 4:3).

I am a novice and this book and video helped me rebuild a 4.3L out of my GMC Jimmy. It have been decades since I did any kind of overhaul - this book was a big help. Highly Recommend!!

I was very unhappy to see the book came without the DVD, that was the main reason forwhat should I do. the purchase. It was sealed you can see there was never a DVD in there at all. what should I do?????

The book and DVD is outdated. There is a newer version of the book but it doesn't come with the DVD. The DVD is the same as BoxWrench - 'Basic Engine Building' DVD and can be bought separately.

I have several "how-to" build an engine book and this one was average. Not saying it was bad bud, didn't learn anything new. BUT the DVD was wonderful. The information in the DVD was very good. The lighting and filming was very good. What was the best for me was watching them actually working on the engine and the machining process. The book had good pictures but, watching how the parts were put together was what I have been looking for for sometime.

Awsome book.Lots of information and very detailed.I would recomend this book to anyone and look forward to getting more in the future.
