I read the ebook version on my computer about a year and a half ago, when I first started drinking yerba mate as a daily ceremony. Make sure you have a gourd in hand when reading this book. No one has done a better job of capturing the beauty of this extraordinary plant/drink as Dave. In my earliest days, while I was still struggling to get the yerba just right in the gourd so I could enjoy cycle after cycle, this book taught me what it meant to truly experience and most importantly to SHARE the herb with everyone around me. A wonderful read, and I am so happy it's on the Kindle so I can take it on the go and read about mate while my gourds dry at home.

For those just discovering the world of Yerba Mate, this book contains some valuable information and is worth reading. Much of it is padded with hyperbole. Being familiar with the author, I recognize his overwhelming enthusiasm as part of his style. For others, his grandiose vision of Yerba Mate as the drink of the gods my border on evangelical.In this case the Yerba Mate is best taken with a grain of salt.

If you are looking for the best analysis of yerba mate there is, than turn no further than mateology. This book is my go to resource for information on all things yerba mate, it dives into the history, the preparation methods, and the various different cuts of mate that you can explore so that you find the yerba mate type that best fits your palette. Anything yerba mate that you might have questions about can be found, and will be addressed in this book and painstakingly detailed in full. I recommend this book for yerba mate new-comers and veterans alike!
