Cheap Binding
This Time Out Album, Take Five 50th Edition advanced piano book was not made to last. It is used regularly with care. When opening the pages 36 and 37 to be viewed at the same time the adhesive did not keep the pages bound when opening. The pages fell away from the binding. This should not be happening to a New book with normal use. We will be contacting management for a replacement.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
Thank you so much for publishing this! My favorite album is now played on piano by my 10 year old.. (his favorite too). Easy to read and not a copy. It is important to note that this is an Alfred book.. they publish many piano instruction books and all the other ones are high quality as well.

If you love Brubeck THIS is the book
Great book, real arrangements, plus inside info on the quartet. My son has been playing 13 yrs and loves Brubeck so this was a welcome addition to the collection. Great for advanced players

Challenging but not impossible
What do you get when you try to put all of the instrument parts from the Dave Brubeck Quartet's iconic Time Out album into the hands of a pianist? I find this a challenging workout as the time signatures and keys (Take Five - six flats!) make my brain and fingers work overtime. I'll never play it in concert but it's fun to try!

Great Piano Solos With Full Color Bio
Not only is all the music in here, but there's a multi-page full-color article in the front documenting the creation of this amazing album. The music is piano solos, which means only that this is not a strict note for note transcription of Dave's piano part; however, that only refers to sections where the entire group is playing. Where Dave is solo, it's what he played (e.g. much of Strange Meadow Lark). I have seen the arrangements in here in other volumes, but it's great to have them all here in one volume. You will need to fold the daylights out of it to have it stay open properly, but that's no deal breaker for me.

See what you've heard
After listening to this recording for fifty years it's great to see note for note what Brubeck played. The downside is he could easily reach a tenth, and we're talking D flat to F, so it can leave the average player a little frustrated. It also contains transcribed solos but not necessarily the same order as the recording if you're trying to play along. So far I've only noticed on mistake: in bar 5 of "Strange Meadow Lark" (the G 13 chord) there should have been a natural on the E. All in all this extremely cool and long awaited. If you spring for this consider the Time Out Legacy 50 Year CD/DVD set.

Farewell Dave -- we'll miss you!
i bought this before Dave Brubeck passed away. i bought it mainly to learn Strange Meadowlark. it was worth the money. i have now added the song to my set-list. the notes were all there. i've listened to all of these songs so many times i would know. it was very nice playing this (& take five, blue rondo) the w/end dave passed away. someone called out Brubeck and i was honored to have strange meadowlark under my fingers.

Just what you wanted
Just the way I remembered it. I had this when I was a teenager in the late 1960s. I had been thinking about this lately and assumed it was long since unavailable, but here it is. Thank you. The notes are almost exactly as Brubeck played them on the album. One exception is in Take Five they added the saxophone part to the right hand, but that's okay.
