A charming flower with a combination of 3 colours in each flower. In Shakespear's time it was thought that the flowers have aphrodisiac qualities and were sometimes called Cupid's flower. Flowers grow and bloom continuously from summer to winter. Height: 6 to 10 inches tall with 2 to 3 inch wide flowers. Sow in spring for flowers during summer or sow in late summer-autumn for flowers following winter and spring. Keep seeds cool before sowing. Do not sow with high temperature. The seeds can be plant indoors and outdoors. To start outdoor, plant in a humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in full or partial sun. Loose the soil and moist. Sprinkle the viola seeds, cover with about 1/4 soil and water well. Keep the seedbed moist. As seedlings develop, you must thin the plants to about 6 - 8 inches apart.                                Start indoors 10-12 weeks before planting out.Sow ¼ inch deep in a sterile potting mix.  Keep the soil at 65-75°F, in complete darkness until they seeds sprout. Then move them to a sunny window or place under plant lights. Violas can withstand some freezing temperatures, so transplant date can be about 4 weeks before your last expected frost date. Space at 6-8 inch in the garden. Remove spent flowers to encourage further blooms.
