Antiga Barbearia de Bairro - Straight Razor

I guess good things come to those who wait! It took about a month to get to new York. Once I received the item, I was amazed of the quality and craftsmanship that has been put into this razor shavette. I am a barber of 11 years and have bought every razor on Amazon! This is the best quality razor I have ever seen. It's the perfect weight and size. If youre a barber or a shaving enthusiast, this is a product that everyone of us should have! Thank you for finally making the perfect shavette! I will be ordering another one as a gift to my coworker!!

Is hard to put the blade the razor came of two parts and we have to deal with two parts every time you replace a blade I injured my self trying to put one some time i have to change blade 30 times a day so i not recomended for busy barber if they fix the butterfly stile i s going to be perfect

I would love to give this razor a 5 star like the other reviews, manufactured with good quality materials but. The blade arm is not center when closing. I have to push a little to one side to close or it hits one side of the scales. The blade arms only separate out word to load & unload blades and very little too. Also it's very hard to keep blade in place when inserting separate locking clip from above. Weight and feel is good when shaving, but take a lot to get there. I would not recommend this razor for personal use or to someone who is not a Barber by trade.

I've been impatiently awaiting for this to arrive since I ordered it, and seeing the expected arrival date to be over a month after I placed my order was driving me nuts. Luckily, the shavette was shipped out the day the order was made, and I was contacted by the shipper with a tracking number for my order within 48 hours. The order arrived under two weeks after it was placed, so needless to say I was very happy with the communication from the seller and the speed of delivery.Onto the item itself, the "Antiga Barbearia de Bairro" Straight Razor by The Portuguese Factory is a finely made piece.From the tin packaging to the quality of the wooden scales to the cleanly cut and polished blade holder, this shavette demands to be kept as a display piece.This shavette has a great weight to it, and measures about 10" from end to end when opened straight. The wooden scales have been cut and polished properly, and you can barely feel the grains on the wood. I would recommend using a protective oil or wax to prevent water damage on these scales.The blade holder accepts half blades, I am using  Derby Extra Double Edge Razor Blades, 100 Count , snapped in half. I've also used  100 Shark Super Stainless Straight Edge Barber Razor Blades for Professional Barber Razors  and they fit fine.The piece that rests on the spine of the blade and holds the blade in place holds onto the spine very tightly. I am a bit conflicted on if I like this or not, as it holds the blade firmly but also makes changing blades very difficult due to the amount of force needed to release the blade.I would imagine that this will become easier to remove over the next few blade changes.When removing this small, rectangular piece, I initially tried to slide it forward towards the head of the blade, and then tried lifting it straight up. The thing barely budged! I finally was able to remove it when I pinched it firmly at one end (the end closer to the Tang of the blade) and lifted it up, essentially "flipping" it forward towards the head of the blade holder.Loading the blade can be a bit daunting, especially since the blade holder does not separate as traditional shavettes do, in a "scissor-like" fashion. This blade holder splits down the middle of the head. I have to mention that this was cut beautifully with laser precision because I can barely see how it splits apart-it looks like one solid piece of metal.Unfortunately, this design will prove to make it difficult to load a blade, since you need to either force a blade between the holder or try to split the blade holder open and drop a blade in.Previous reviewers have also mentioned that the tang needs to be pushed to one side when closing. I do not see this as a hindrance, but more of a convenience. The blade being off-center from the scales when open keeps the blade from accidentally closing itself.Overall, this is a solid product with little room for improvement. I would hope that in the future, the manufacturer could incorporate a better blade holding piece other than the small rectangular one on this shavette, and perhaps adopt the "scissor" style blade holder to allow easier blade loading.The weight is perfect for me and helps me apply even pressure when shaving. This is well worth the $36 I paid for it, especially since I know that the manufacturer will back their product and are there for customer support if at all necessary.

The pack came in 2 weeks.very well packaged as shown on photos, I own 8 other brand shavettes, what about this? -thankyou for producing such a nice item and so cheap, I would compare this better then feather shavettes because..... At least $100 less and works with normal double edged blades cut in the half, instead of special feather blades, quality of this is wonderful, everything is as shown in the picture. I would recommend that to a friend or to anyone who is reading this review.

Absolute crap. Besides the fact that it took over a month to finally get it, once received I found that due to uneven grinding of the head, it wouldn't even hold a blade. Oh, and you can forget about customer support

This is a great looking razor but the design for locking the blade in is horrible. I was really looking forward to this but it was a let down.

This is a great Shavette style razor.I was a slightly concerned with the shipping from out of country but it arrived within 2 weeks. Distributor was very helpful when contacted and reassured me that the product would arrive as quickly as customs would release it and extra care was taken to ensure it would arrive in great condition.Only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that the blade is a little difficult to change but you get used to it. It also is a little loose when you get close to having is closed fully.I'd buy it again if looking for a similar razor!

é un problema che ha riscontrato anche un mio amico, la lametta che ci andiamo ad adagiare on torna perfettamente in linea, ma un po' pendente, ci ho perso delle giornate insieme a degli appassionati a cercare di capire il perchè, probabilmente la risposta più ovvia è anche quella giusta è fatto a caso... Peccato perchè esteticamente è il migliore che ci sia in circolazione.
