The Little Blue Book of Sailing Wisdom (Little Books)

This book is delightful. I purchased this as a going away gift for a coworker who sails and it's full of thoughtful quotes and passages that you can ressonate with (even if you aren't into sailing). There are several themed sections that the passages and quotes are organized in. Kinda want one for myself now because it speaks of the sea and I'm a beach bum myself.

I mistakenly thought I was purchasing a guide for a beginning sailor. It is just quotes about sailing. If that’s what you are looking for, this is a good option.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who recently bought a sailboat and has been learning to sail. The book itself is lovely and was full of sailing tips... made a great gift.

If this had been advertised as a coffee-table book of beloved sea poems, I would have been perfectly happy. But I bought this thinking it was a book of "sailing wisdom"--as in sails and bearings and winds. Famous writers with chiefly no prior experience on the sea reflecting on the 'vastness and emptiness of the ocean'--that anyone can observe perfectly well on their own--is not what I consider sailing wisdom. The poetry and prose is pretty, but it isn't remotely helpful for someone wanting to know more about the sea than its color and personality.

I keep going back to read a few pages here and there, now and then.

Gave it to my boss for the holidays - he loves it!

I BUY A COPY OF THIS BOOK FOR EVERY NEW SAILOR THAT I COME TO KNOW. IT WOULD BE NICE TO GET AUTOGRAPHED COPIES.
