Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7 Bicycle U-Lock w/ 4’ KryptoFlex Double Loop Cable

I have owned a few Kryptonite locks (2 big Evolution 4's and 1 Kryptolock2) , but this one must be the best I have had so far for the price! It is lighter than the bigger Kryptonite models, yet not as small as the smallest models (evolution 4 mini for example), so it is easy to lock to a number of fixed objects (traffic signs, bike racks, parking meters, ...). The Cable you get provides enough length to lock both front and rear wheels to the lock. The evolution 4 or New York locks are tougher, but also way heavier. This lock also requires a diamond blade saw to break it, so I think this lock hits the sweet spot. I highly recommend this lock! PRO's: - Tough/Safe lock, takes a diamond blade saw to cut through - Extra cable enables you to lock both wheels for extra security, extra deterrent for thieves - Lock is big enough to lock bike frame to most fixed objects - Lock is not as heavy as the biggest Kryptonite locks (which are really heavy!) - Great price on the lock + cable combo - Key comes with a LED light, and you get free replacement keys from Kryptonite CON's: - Mounting bracket is complicated to install, but does its job. - I have not found a good way to store the cable together with the lock while biking (I usually put the cable in a backpack). EDIT: In response to the review above that shows pictures of this lock being broken: Besides the quality of the lock, which is good in my opinion, proper LOCKING TECHNIQUE is required! You have to make sure there is as little free room as possible inside of the lock, or it could be broken by placing a car jack inside of it. Preferred method is to secure both the rear wheel AND the seatpost to a fixed object. If the lock is small enough, there wont be enough wiggle room to fit a car jack. ALL D-locks are vulnerable to this type of attack. This lock is actually better than most, because it is quite small, so it is less likely that thieves can fit a jack inside of it when locked. This lock is the perfect size for locking up my road bike. Large enough to fit through the frame and rear wheel, with the cable wrapped around the front wheel. Small enough to make it very difficult to get off without damaging the bike in some irreparable way. The lock itself is very solid and is easy to lock and unlock. The lock includes a key with a lock and two spare normal keys. I do not like the bulk of the lighted-key, but I think it is a neat option to have. Kryptonite will also send you up to 2 free keys if you lose those included, which is very nice. The package also includes a bike mount that wraps around your bike frame to hold your the lock on the bike when riding around. The instructions included to install this mount are useless, however Kryptonite has a YouTube video that thoroughly describes the installation and use of the mount. Once I found this video and installed it, the mount worked great and is very sturdy. Lastly the lock comes with a year of free anti-theft protection for bikes up to $2000. This gives me peace of mind in knowing that if somehow a thief could get this lock off, I will be able to replace my bike easily. Overall I am very satisfied with this lock, and I would recommend it to anyone worried about bike theft. The only way to be more secure would be to buy two U-locks or chains.

I've been using this product for the last three weeks now and i can only say good about it. I have to say the internal space to lock the bike (3.25" by 7") is a little bit small as it won't go around a large street poles, but if you manage to find a small street pole or a bike stand, it's extremely good as its less space for thieves to use a lever and be able to break the lock. It is pretty lightweight for this kind of lock, it feels solid and it works like a charm. The included Flex Cable is very useful to protect the wheels while locking only the frame with the lock. The little velcro on the Flex Cable has fallen, but i could re-sew it to the cable, but it's holding by itself so i didn't bother. I also bought the Avenir Seat Locker (3mm / 2 feet) with this just to lock the bike seat to the Flex Cable as an added security. Very good product as far.

Happy with the lock so far. It might not reach for larger poles but I couldn’t fit a size bigger in frame wedge so that is expected. Keys, locking mechanism and everything else great. The mount SUCKS. Especially for higher priced locks. Do yourself a favor, modify it. I really love the clamp mounts on my Allty lights. I bought an extra mount and then a spare Allty/Garmin mount plate. I epoxied the plate to the lower half of the Kryptonite mount and cut the screw off flush after everything hardened. Works like a dream now. I wouldn’t need the Velcro at the top of the “U” if I didn’t have the cable wound up with it. TLDR; good lock, fix the mount or toss it.

Hallo. Ich habe das Kryptonite Mini 7 für mein Morrison Trecking Bike gekauft. Gestern wurde es geliefert und es erfüllt meine Erwartungen vollumfänglich. Es ist insgesamt wirklich sehr solide verarbeitet. Man erhält dazu insgesamt drei Schlüssel. Zwei schlanke Schlüssel und einen der in einer Halterung steckt, die an eine kleine Version eines Autoschlüssels erinnert. In diesem Schlüssel bedindet sich eine blaue, sehr helle LED. Ein anderer Käufer beschreibt es so, dass die LED öfters "hakt" und gleich nach dem Drücken auf den Knopf ausgeht. Das ist bei mir genau so und wenn man nochmals etwas gefühlvoll den Knopf betätigt, hat man ein dunkelblaues Licht welches im Dunkeln ausreichend Licht liefert (wenn man es denn braucht). Sei es drum. Ich nutze einen der normalen Schlüssel, weil sie ganz einfach schlanker sind. Mein Rad schließe ich nicht an dunklen, einsamen Orten ab. Ich glaube, der entsprechend günstig ausgewählte Ort ist die allerbeste Diebstahlssicherung. Zu den Schlüsseln sei noch gesagt, dass jedes Schloss seine individuelle Schlüsselnummer hat. Man kann sein Schloss (allerdings unter Preisgabe persönlicher Daten) beim Hersteller im Netz registrieren lassen. Im Falle eines Verlustes von Schlüsseln könnte man dann dort entsprechend Schlüssel beziehen. (Wenn man das denn so möchte) Auch verliert man keine Garantieansprüche, wenn man die Schlüssel beim Hersteller bezieht. Auch bekommt man eine dreiteilige, gute Bedienungsanleitung. Erstens eine Garantiebeschreibung, mit Hinweisen wie man sein Rad nach Meinung des Herstellers am besten sichert. Dann eine Beschreibung wie man das Schloss mittels mitgelieferter Halterung am Rahmen befestigen kann, sowie eine Beschreibung der Leuchtschlüssels inkl. Anleitung zum Batteriewechsel. Es sind LR 1130 1,5 V Alkaline Batterien verbaut. Alternativ können AG 10, 398, oder LR 54 Batterien verwendet werden. Der Bügel ist Kunststoffummantelt. Ich habe im Netz (Ökotest) gelesen, dass in diesem Kunststoff Weichmacher nachgewiesen wurden, die wohl auch entsprechend Schadstoffhaltig sind. Ich will ja nicht an dem Schloss lecken oder sowas. Also für mich ist dieser Punkt relativ egal. Die Ummantelung schützt den Rahmen jedenfalls vor Kratzern. Der Bügel läßt sich komlett vom Schließmechanismus trennen. Einerseits muss er eingehakt werden und andererseits schließt er geradeverlaufend in das eigentliche Schloss. Ein sehr solider Schließmechanismus. Das Schließen und Öffen mittels Schlüssel geht leicht und problemlos. Der verbaute Schließbolzen wirkt ebenfalls sehr robust. Die schwarze Kappe am Schließmechanismus läßt sich verdrehen, sodass kein Schmutz oder direkte Nässe in das Schloss eindringen kann. Zur Halterung: Die Halterung besteht ebenfalls insgesamt aus soliden Materialien. Kunststoff, Metall, Gummi und Kordura. Sie ist verdrehbar, sodass sie am Rahmen entsprechend, nach den individuellen Wünschen angeschraubt werden kann. Zunächst sucht man sich also einen Montageort aus. Man hält die Grundplatte an den Rahmen und führt zunächst das Gummiband als Unterlage um den Rahmen. Dann schneidet man (falls erforderlich) das Gummiband auf Maß mit einer Schere ab. Dann führt man das Befestigungsband um den Rahmen und führt es durch die Metallöse der Grundplatte, führt das Gummiband ebenfalls um den Rahmen als Unterlage und zieht die ganze Sache stramm fest. Dann nimmt man die Kunststoff Oberschale und schraubt diese nun am Rad mit dem mitgelieferten Imbusschlüssel oder Innensechskantschlüssel fest. Zum Schluss schneidet man das Korduraband etwa einen cm außerhalb der Halterung ab und verschmilzt den Schnitt kurz mittels Feuerzeug um ein Aufriffeln zu verhindern. Die Halterung läßt sich übrigens verdrehen, indem man die Schaube um einige Umdrehungen mit dem Imbus löst und das innenliegende Plättchen mit einem Finger festhält, damit es sich nicht mitdreht. Anschließend das Cryptonite auf die Halterung aufsetzen bis es einrastet. Fertig. Das Schloss sitzt ohne zu wackeln, fest auf der Halterung. Es läßt nochmals zum Rahmen beliebig hin,- und herschwenken, sodass man es sehr dicht an den Rahmen drücken kann. Das mitgelieferte Drahtseil ist ebenfalls Kunststoffumantelt und dient dem zusätzlichen Schutz des Rades, indem man es um einen festen Gegenstand legt und somit sein Rad irgendwo fest anschließen kann. An den Enden ist jeweils ein aureichend großes Auge mittels Presshülse angebracht. Hier wäre ein Spleiß sicherlich besser. Die Hülsen machen jedoch auch einen guten Eindruck. Das Seil läßt sich jedoch nicht an der Halterung befestigen. Es müßte also gesondert im Rucksack, o.Ä. mitgeführt werden. Fazit: Gutes Schloss welches auch in Fachzeitschriften und Tests als "gut" bewertet wird. (Man bemühe die Suchmaschine seiner Wahl) Die orangene Farbe hat sicherlich auch ihre Signalwirkung auf potentielle Diebe, dass es hier wohl knifflig wird. Soweit ich mich informiert habe, benötigt man schon große Geschütze, wie eine Flex, Bohrmaschine oder einen wirklich großen Bolzenschneider und viel Zeit und Kraft um das Schloss aufzubrechen. Auch Kältespray funktioniert offenbar nicht bei diesem Schloss. Ich denke, es bietet genügend Schutz vor Diebstahl für die allermeisten Lebensgegebenheiten. Wie gesagt: Der richtige Abstellort ist doch schon die beste Sicherung des Rades, oder? Mein Rad läßt sich am Hinterrad/Rahmen/Sattelrohr ohne Probleme verschließen. Das Schloss liegt dann locker verschlossen am Rad. Also in jedem Fall trotz geringer Gesamtmaße des Schlosses groß genug um sicherlich die absolute Mehrheit aller Räder abschließbar zu machen. Es läßt sich nicht verdrehen und bietet eigentlich keinerlei Angriffsfläche für Brecheisenangiffe oder sonstiges Verdrehen. Für knapp 40 Euro incl. Versand bekommt man ein mindestens gutes, und absolut solide verarbeitetes Qualitäts Fahrradschloss mit technischen Feinheiten wie einer gut durchdachten Halterung, Schließzylinderabdeckung als Korrosiosschutz und ausreichend Schlüsseln. Außer einer Schere und einem Feuerzeug benötigt man keine zusätzlichen Werkzeuge für die etwa zehn Minuten dauernde Montage am Rad. Die Anleitungen sind in Ordnung und verständlich mit Zeichnungen mehrsprachig geschrieben. Der beleuchtete Schlüssel ist ebenfalls ein gutes, sinnvolles Zubehör, wenn man ihn denn braucht. Für mich persönlich ein nettes Gimmick. 5 Sterne und eine Kaufempfehlung von mir !!!

Se siente de buen material ,no estorba ya que es de un buen tamaño, además de tener su propia base para que lo puedas llevar en tu cuadro o el poste del asiento, me da mucha confianza para poder dejar mi bici por la ciudad 🤙

Le cadenas : suffisamment lourd il inspire confiance mais reste assez léger pour être transportable au quotidien. Pas trop petit il permet d'enlacer à peu près tout type de mobilier urbain (mais pas quand même un lampadaire), pas trop grand, ça lui évite de balloter en tout sens et d'être trop accessible aux outils des méchants pas beaux. Il est par ailleurs bien noté dans les différents test que j'ai pu trouvé en ligne. Son gainage semble de qualité et protège bien la peinture si on prend garde à ne pas heurter le vélo avec la partie qui s'enclenche dans le support. Le câble : à considérer, comme tout câble, comme un simple accessoire permettant de sécuriser des roues ou autres périphériques il est bien fini, avec un gainage de qualité. Il bénéficie d'un velcro permettant de le maintenir enroulé pour le ranger. A vrai dire je l'utilise peu, mes roues et ma selle sont déjà sécurisés par des serrages antivol. Les clefs : une des trois clefs dispose de l'éclairage et est un peu encombrante (comme une clef de voiture à peu près), deux autres sans éclairage sont moins volumineuses. La taille des clefs est un peu agressive, attention aux fonds de poche. La lumière est bien pratique pour trouver la serrure dans le noir ou pour retrouver cette satanée rustine qui décide toujours de se barrer alors que la chambre à air est encollée et qu'il n'y a plus de batterie dans le stupidophone. Le support : léger, bien fini, installable à peu près partout (où ne passe pas de câble), orientable dans toutes les angles et tenant fermement sa position et le U...j'aurais bien du mal à lui faire un reproche. Un peu ferme pour y glisser le U au début ça limitera la prise de jeu avec le temps. Certains critiquent sa facilité d'installation...il ne faut pas abuser. Il suffit de regarder attentivement 5 minutes de vidéo et de lire 10 lignes de texte...pour le monter en 5 minutes. Ayant un cadre avec un fort slooping et encore rien d'attaché sur la tige de selle (j'ai porte un bagage avec feu monté sur le cadre) je l'ai monté en haut de cette tige et il ne bouge pas du tout malgré un usage urbain parfois "bien engagé". Bref un bon U facile à transporter et qui rassure quand j'ai réussi à trouver autre chose qu'un de ces atroces plie roue pour attacher mon véhicule.

Got two sets of them Mini-7 and Series 4. Both are brilliant nothing else to say, locking device is working very well. Somebody already tried to cut the lock!! It only has bin week. But guess what, they litterally only scratch the surface of it, probably after trying for a bit they realised that it's not the lock to cut!! Couple of thing to point out 1. Small bracket which you can attach to your bike and then just hang the lock on is very cool, plastic but lightweight and sturdy enough.. at least you dont have to hang the lock in the odd places while cycling! 2. There was a 3 key set and one of them came in with the light on the key, this is small but very cool feature, actually does help to open up the lock in the dark.! It's quite heavy thou, but this is the only way to protect your bike in town.... You can easily remove it and store it when cycling out! I thought it's going to be too small, but the size is actually just perfect for town use!!

No instructions at all supplied. Bracket does not attach to bike frame as described. Really disappointing. Item returned
