Gourd Pyrography Paperback – March 1, 2007

I have really enjoyed this book. We had an unusually rainy, cool season and I found myself with an abundance (70+) gourds of every shape and size in my garden. I have enjoyed the full color photos, descriptions and 'how-to' information in this book and my whole family has enjoyed using the different types of techniques to decorate our gourds. This book combined with Gourds with Southwestern Motifs: Rainsticks, Masks, Vessels & More , has taught us how to combine pyrography with Dremel tools and staining to come up with some really neat decorative gourds that we have enjoyed giving away as gifts to friends and family.

Have not tried any of the suggestions yet. But the book is very informative with detail to someone like myself that has never even thought of doing anything to a gourd. Happened to plant a bunch for a family member thinking that family member 'did' gourds. She does not. Stuck with a bunch of gourds now so decided to see what damage I could do. Going to try the burning and also ink coloring. Looks interesting.

I had borrowed this book from the library and decided to buy it to have it available whenever needed. Great Ideas and suggestions!

This book is inspiring! It if full of gorgeous color photos of gourd pyrography from a number of different artists, along with notes regarding the techniques used in the examples. The intro and section on gourd prep & work basics is excellent and the book also features a few step by step lessons employing multiple pictures. It's not only a thorough and easy to follow instructional manual, it is beautiful, too.

I have admired decorative gourds of all sizes for years, but was never adventurous enough to create my own until this year. This book is chock full of ideas to stir your imagination and give you jumping off points to do just that. It's not for the novice, but there are other books for that. I look forward to getting out my woodburning tools and my dremel and cutting loose.

I am going through a gourd phase and have just recently ordered about 5 or 6 different books on gourds and what beautiful things you can do with them. I have not worked with pyrography yet, but I am very anxious to start. This book has beautiful photos and I don't think I will have any problems with the directions.

I am an amateur wood worker and I purchased this book to look into the possibilities of doing some work with gourds. This book is very informative and nicely done. Provides lots of information for someone like myself who doesn’t have a clue!!!

It gave tips required for most of the pieces illustrated, and it had a variety of designs. It also included some gourd preps, which is helpful especially for beginning gourd artists like me.

It's not bad but not what I expected. Many photographs of different types of work but not much step by step.
