Incredible Headlamp, please keep making them.
At the time of this review it seems as though Magnus Innovations is no longer selling this product, which is a shame. For those of you able to read this review however, their appear to be two models left for sale on their website. That being said, I still felt inclined to leave my review for this product, in order to express my opinion of this excellent product.I've had this head piece for quite some time now, using it in several different applications from house work, night time strolls, and even small camping trips. This piece has impressed me in every application, and I'm most grieved to find that it may no longer be in production. At the 100 dollar asking price, this is an excellent headlamp, and has outperformed several headlamps I've owned from Petzl, Princeton, Brunton, and Black Diamond. The 570 lumen beam is incredibly bright, and throws a very wide beam, making it particularly useful in hiking environments. The lowest setting has also been substantially bright, and the setting I've actually found to make the cut in most of my applications. For those looking for a much more narrower beam my want to consider something else, but even so I still believe this headlamp would serve you just as well. The 18650 Battery has held a great charge, and after several charge cycles still manages to hold a good charge clocking in at the 43 hrs and 24 min mark. The alluminum cased design has been just as durable as advertised, and has survived been tossed around in my pack and onto the concrete several times. The light has also managed to survive all of my trips in rather substantial rainfall, but I've never put it directly in contact with a bowl of water. The biggest selling feature for me however was the micro usb charging, which thus far has been excellent. However, do keep in mind that the charging port is fairly recessed, so that the rubber stopper can keep as much water from getting in as possible. While this has never been a major issue, just keep in mind that this may prevent bulkier Micro Usb cables from being able to reach the charging port. This particular headlamp is not without some caveats however. While the headlamp is very robust, this does come at the price of it's weight. The straps do a very good job of keeping the headlamp from slipping down into your face, but I often find the headlamp to be bit cumbersome without using some sort of hat. Nonetheless, one would probably wish to do this any ways as wearing a headlamp of this nature tends to give longer haired folks a funny looking hair-do. Their have also been very brief occurrences where the light switch wouldn't turn off the torch. However, this was usually due to an accidental drop or misuse of the product, which was easily remedied by a small twist in the battery compartment's cap. Afterwards the lamp returned to it's normal reliable working state. I would have been excited to be able to strap a battery pack to the charging outlet, thus expanding it's illuminating capacity indefinitely, however this is not the case for this particular product. However, I cant possibly hold it against the product as I do not know if such a capability is even possible. Nitpicking small trivial things, I've found the extra battery to fall out of the very soft carry pouch from time to time, but am still thrilled to have these items nonetheless.Overall, I am incredibly thrilled with this product. At this price point, I've received a strong reliable piece of kit with a company that has proven to care deeply for their customers in the Amazon customer questions section. I honestly could not say enough good things about this headlamp, but hopefully this review might help someone who may be on the fence on pulling the trigger on one of these headlamps. If your reading this review Magnus, please don't stop producing these headlamps, their are many people who need this product. Thank you.

reasonably priced rechargeable headlamp
UPDATED. I originally had an issue with my headlamp flickering when i got it. But I contacted Magnus Innovation and they replaced it. I haven't gotten to test it out yet, so i am hoping that was just a random fluke on the first one. They didnt make me pay for the return shipping and is one of the deciding factors on me spending the time to update my review. It is also pretty heavy. I do notice it when i use it, but isnt like i felt neck pains due to the weight. I do worry with the extra heavy weight that if i bend over, my hard hat would fall off due to it being heavy. Especially if it is windy. The build is really nice. It feels like it could take a drop or be knocked against something and not damage it. I like how this headlamp doesn't have a hinge. I think hinges are the weakest part of any headlamp with a hinge. The beam strength is better for up close and not to project super far out.. It dissapears really fast once your looking away from yourself. I use it for rail cars. It is defiantly bright enough to see the equipment next to me. When i want to look to the other side of the rail car, it will light up the other side enough that i could probably tell if i left something on that side, but it wont be as bright or project a beam like some other will. I dont think this is what you would want for running at night. I actually used it once just to see. i could see an animal ahead of me, but i couldnt tell what it was. Now this would be good to use for working on your car or other things where the object is really close and not looking from a distance. The light seems to take forever to charge. i charged it in my truck for two 2 hour sessions and it would still show up as not charged. If you use it a lot every day, you probably will need to charge it in the house and not just in your vehicle on your way to the job site. So you could either go to the medium light that give you 17 hours and would last all day. Or what i did is just get a 10 dollar Nitecore charger that i can plug in at the jobsite if i do have to go to the second battery.Overall. it is a good headlamp. If you use it often and have to pay for your own batteries, it is a good investment. While i could keep using my cheap backup head lamp and use the company provided batteries for free, it is nice not having to remember to grab a new pack of batteries every time i am at the office.
