Sundstrom H10-0015 Silica Dust Respirator Kit with SR 100 S/M Silicone Half Mask, P100/HE Particulate Filter and Prefilters

I was concerned at first but decided to give it a chance, when I first put it on I noticed how big the filter was, and it was right in front of my field of view, but since it was designed by Swedes I figured they know what they are doing so I thought I'll wright my review after I actually used it at work, and yes, they know what they are doing, the filter did not obstruct my vision in any way, the problem I had was with the pre filter retainer the air inlet is right in the center and I prefer to use a face shield instead of safety glasses it got covered and restricted my breathing so I had to remove it and everything was fine after that, another issue I had was the neck strap was too tight, I thought if i loosened it a bit it would fix it but since the head and neck strap is the same strap I could not find a happy median and wound up with a fatigued neck, but since after a long day of grinding and sanding everything is fatigued anyway lol. So overall I am happy with this respirator, I hope the materials they used for the mask and strap hold up for the daily all day use of sweat and grim. Love this -- I have several respirators, but none that fit as well as this one. I deal with silica flour in glass casting mold work and having good safety equipment is critical to avoiding silicosis.

Does what it claims to do!

The P100 filter in this product gives off a powerful chemical odor the gives me a headache. The purpose of the product is to protect from harmful vapors, but this product seems to do the opposite. Has anyone else experienced this? Why does the filter have such a strong odor?
