X-TRONICMODEL XTR-2010-XTS Magnetic Hands Free Soldering Circuit Board Holder w/Hot Air Gun Bracket

I'm not as negative about this purchase as my review may sound, but I did want to provide a heads-up on possible issues, even though they are minor.Like most Chinese stuff, it has a few warts. The threading on the stop collar was kind of a mess, but I'm not sure I see that part as strictly necessary, so I may re-thread it, or simply throw it in to the bin of mysterious parts i've been accumulating for years. I wish the magnets in the board holder were a bit stronger, I have some thought that the board holders are going to be a bit fidgety in use, although I suppose they are still serviceable. It would have been nice if it had some sort of cable guide. The included tweezers seem serviceable enough, but I'm less sure about the very small bladed jeweler's screwdriver. Of course, neither has anything to do with my decision to purchase this item. For the life of me I can't figure out the intended use of the small spool of wire - perhaps patches when re-working? In any case, it has a lot of interesting looking Chinese characters printed on it, as well as a hologram sticker, and will no doubt serve as a trinket for some technically inclined young person passing through my shop.As another reviewer has correctly noted, the feet do not stay on. I think perhaps there is a very thin layer of oil or some other substance which is causing the adhesive to fail. I will remove the feet, degrease the bottom of the plate, and re-attach them with contact cement.Everything I buy from China ends up being a parts kit more than a finished product, and this simple product is no exception. Also arriving from China today was a 1500 watt reflow oven, and before I even plug it in I have to take it apart and replace the paper masking tape insulation with Kapton. Oh well, the price was right...

The idea is good, but the implementation is too low cost. The board holders have a slot to slide the board in and magnets to attach to steel base below, good idea. The problem is that the magnets are way too weak and any work you want to do on the board will easily make the holder to slide and the board will fall.The other thing is that the base is way too small. if you plan to work on boards larger than a cell phone most likely you will run out of space.

Pretty simple item, but it did arrive and work as expected.One complaint: The rubber feet on the bottom. It arrived with one detached and floating around the box. Of course it never would stick back on worth a crap so i replaced it.Well actually i peeled all 4 off, which took very little effort... And replaced them with a piece of rubber mat across the entire bottom.Works much better in my opinion.

The black finish is chipped on the hot air gun holder, but then it is chipped in the picture at Amazon, so fair enough :). As others have noticed, the feet appear to be held on with spit and hope. A good clean and some super glue and that's fixed. The stop collar threaded hole and the machine screw seem to have different threads, but I can live with that. Otherwise, a nice product at a good price. Not quite sure why there's a screwdriver included - it's not like it fits anything on the product.

I bought two of these for a project that requires me to use heat guns on a variety of products including circuit boards, mechanical cases and others. The metal base is sturdy. The tube stand is made of good material and so is the brace. However, the reason for the low rating is because of the hardware. The screws for the tube stand and for the clip joint are cheap and after two or three uses started to either grind not allowing for proper screwing of the components or the threads started wearing off. I went to the hardware store and bought replacement quality screws which solved my immediate problem. However, this would be easily and 4 or 5 star rating if it wasn't for them saving a couple of bucks with cheap hardware. That kind of cost shaving always bugs me.
