Death Certificate Review: Ice cube death certificate - Record place excellent Review: A dark disturbing masterpiece that i love. - If "Amerikkka's Most Wanted" is 1 this is 1A, just an incredible album. This was a very controversial album when it was released and it's themes are still to be heeded. Where "Amerikkka's Most Wanted" was more socially driven this album is more politically driven, it's such a fascinating and brilliant album that whenever I listen to it the themes still hit hard and real. Standout tracks for me are "A Bird In The Hand", "Us", "No Vasseline", "Color Blind", "Horny Lil' Devil", "My Summer Vacation", "True To The Game", "Steady Mobbin'", "Givin' Up The Nappy Dug Out", "Alive On Arrival" and "I Wanna Kill Sam", really every song is highlight on here, this album is that good. Storywise and lyrically Cube is at his zenith here, he gives it to you real and raw and doesn't hold any punches. Along with "Amerikka's Most Wanted" this album is the crown jewel of Ice Cube's career. Easily one of the best albums that I have ever heard.

Surprise
Christmas gift from my oldest son who grew up listening to this cd with me. Got the vinyl since I’d bought a record player last year after my mom passed and she left me all the vinyl I grew up with. Great surprise and better sound then a cd or digital imo.

The Nigga Ya Love to Hate returns
While Amerikkka's Most Wanted is his best album overall, Death Certificate comes close to taking that crown. Although at the time of its release it was looked at for its recial stances and controversial lyrics, Death Certififcate proved that Ice Cube could definitely get our attentions. Divided into two sides ("Death Side" and "Life Side"), this album had more of a message than Cube's first album. The Death Side has all the showings of a gangsta rap album, with tracks about gang expansion ("My Summer Vacataion"), adventures of the Lench Mob ("Steady Mobbin"), and STDs in the ghetto ("Look Who's Burnin"). The Life Side is bit more controversial, with songs about the US government ("I Wanna Kill Sam"), sellouts ("True to the Game"), and peace between Bloods and Crips ("Color Blind"). The two most controversial tracks however belong to "Black Korea", which spews venom on Asian Americans, and "No Vaseline", which is a viscious diss aimed at NWA. This album pretty much foretold everything that would ufold in the LA Riots. Anybody who weren't shocked at the LA Riots had probably been listening to Death Certificate. Either way you look at it, Death Certificate is an album that deserves to be heard, even though Amerikkka's Most Wanted is still his best album

Pure Genius!
This album has to been on the top albums of all time this album is that good, first off let me say that this album contains strong racial lyrics and may offend some. But other than that i really enjoyed myself listening to all of the songs. As for me i was born in 92 (20yrs old) so im use to the lil wayne and 2 chainz of this hip hop era we hear now. But i gotta say this makes me wanna listening to more old skool hip hop. I highly recommend this album!

Vintage Cube
One of the all-time great rap albums, FROM ANY COAST. Cube touches on so many topics that plagued our neighborhoods back then and many of those problems still persist today. The production is perfect for the subject matter, as Cube rips every beat a new one with charismatic performances. He touches on topics like sell-outs to the drama in the county hospital. I could talk about this album all day but I'll let the music do the talking. Buy this all-time classic, you won't regret it.

Fierce and Effective
This is a superb album, from Ice Cube's most abundantly creative period. Personally, I don't think it quite matches up to the ferocious intensity of "The Predator", but since that was his next album, it just means he kept improving. Pros: a lot of great tracks built on strong funk and soul samples. Cons: too many short tracks, and filler that didn't really do much for me. Current listeners may be dismayed by the strong homophobic content on the album, but it's a reflection of the time (and attitudes) when it was made.

Possibly cubes finest album, death certificate showed a new political, racial & social side to his music, putting the gangsta stuff on a sort of hold for this, predator & lethal injection.the album showed new confidence,a new production team and a new direction,a wise move for cube cos this is what he does best, tell it like it is.i can't think of any album quite like it,excellent from start to finish too.
