Works perfectly for my needs
The longer shaft and hand length worked perfectly for my 13” diameter outdoor sculpted resin clock. It’s not silent, but don’t believe it’s as loud as some people are stating. This clock is mounted outdoors on my patio so it’s a non-issue. I would say the hands would work fine for a 12-13” clock. You can definitely cut the hands down for a smaller diameter clock.

It was a great replacement
The original clock had HUGE hands: an 18" x 18" frame with a 7" minute hand. My wife LOVED.Nine years ago I had replaced its mechanism but had to drill our the center attachment point of the hands to fit the new mechanism. When it too died, she wanted to keep the clock as she had never seen one that large in a house!Since this was the second mechanism replacement for the clock, the hands had already been modified (drilled out) to fit the first replacement 9 years ago.It was easy to form up a glue soaked piece of newspaper, drill a hole in it slightly smaller than the mechanism. I then glued the hands to it and pressed the combination down onto the mechanism.New mechanism has been keeping time reliably for the last two months. Happy wife, happy ... you get the picture!

Excellent Clock Which Keeps Time Correctly - Hands Too Long and No Answer From Seller
This clock works well. I needed one with a longer shaft as I epoxied a photo of my son into a nice frame which was very thick. However the hands were too large! I wrote the Seller asking if I could purchase smaller hands and he/she never answered. That put me off.I took some side cutters (dykes) and cut them to size then used some white paint I had for a model I was making and used it on the tips where I had made my cuts. However, rather than going through all of this, if the Seller had answered and was able to sell me smaller hands, I would have purchased them. At least the Seller should respect inquiries and say "No" if he/she can't provide smaller hands. The clock mechanism does keep accurate time. And yes, it does make a quiet noise. If you are in a totally quiet room and are sensitive to light "click" the clock makes.. I suggest purchasing a more expensive quartz clock which is quiet. The reason I gave this excellent mechanism only 3 stars is because of the following:1) The Seller never did answer my question about purchasing smaller hands. I feel this is disrespectful.2) I had to cut the hands down and paint the tips myself to get them to look correctly against the framed photo. If you need an excellent clock with a long shaft and long hands... then buy this one. It is excellent.

OK, but...
The first one I bought had internal connection issues. It would run for a while, then stop. Pushing sideways on the negative end battery contact would make it start back up but wouldn't last. I have purchased a second one and so far it has run for over 24 hours.Update July 23rd. Both of these units had problems. They would run for a while then stop. The slightest movement of the clock would cause them to start. I have since taken them apart and bent the battery contacts so that they make better contact. So far, both are running.

Very simple and works
Me and my gf tore up old flooring and i kept some pieces and decided to make her a unique clock, she was blown away it came out awesome. A couple of the hands did arrive bent but wasnt a big deal i bent them back, install was easy i just had to router the back causebthe wood was thick but piece of cake and item keeps up with accurate time.

Works, but is flimsy and loud
The hands are very thin metal so when attaching the hands (which require just the right amount of pressure or they’ll fall off) you have a chance of bending them. Once they’re attached I haven’t had any issues. My main reason for only giving this 3 stars is that the mechanism is really really loud. You can hear it ticking from across the room.

Loud

Works great!
I had trouble with a previous clock replacement and tried again with this one. The hands fit the mechanism without trouble and it worked when the battery was installed. I trimmed the hands to the desired length and the entire job was complete in about 15 minutes (I work slowly). My clock is custom made from an old motorcycle air cleaner and it was important to me to restore it.
