USB interface works, but DO NOT use the included power supply.
The power supply kills hard drives. The actual USB interface works, but by using the power supply you are taking a statistically unacceptable risk that you will kill the drive. I'm sure some of them work, but for a component like this the failure rate should be maybe 1 in 10,000 and QA should filter those failures out.I happened to have an old molex power supply that I knew for sure works, so first I used that to copy all the data I wanted off of two old small hard drives. Since they are uselessly small by today's standards, the drives were headed for destruction anyway so then I tried the power supply that came with the Sabrent adapter. In both cases, after plugging them in the drive began to spin up for a few seconds and then stopped, and then never worked again, not even with my original power supply. This is completely unacceptable. The QA process for the power supplies must be just to check that the voltage across the leads is not 0. Or there is no QA at all.

Avg product, Bad customer service
This product has a lot of 4+ stars and it was recommended by an IT friend. However, I give these 2-Stars only because I think the issue is with a MFR batch that should have been recalled- not the actual product. The power connectors won't go together for 2 reasons: the molded end is slightly too big, the #3 hole was too closed up, and the pins are loose and don't line up really well. This creates an issue of the pins pushing out and/or cocking sidewise in the connector. (Look at the 1-star reviews). The other reason for 2-Stars is that when I called customer service to discuss the problem, the rep was immediately on the offensive and tried to blame it on me. This was telling that it wasn’t the first they heard of this particular complaint. In what should be the worst reason for the poor workmanship, he had stated it didn't matter if all the pins went in or plug fit together, because I didn't need all of them to supply power. Way to stand behind your product, defects and all. Unfortunately the ones I needed wouldn't make contact. I was trying to get help or a replacement part and his final response was return it if I wasn't happy. So here you go.

Perfect! Worked exactly like it should, very easy to use.
Wow! When getting a new computer, I used to copy data from the old to the new using CDs, DVDs, thumb drives, etc. Getting harder and harder to use any of those methods due to the amount of data that piles up on computers these days (my pictures alone take multiple DVDs to transfer). But this time my old computer went belly up (power supply) so didn't have that option. And new computer didn't have a spare SATA data wire + power cable to connect old drive into computer as a 2nd internal hard drive, so what to do...? This device worked flawlessly and is worth 5x its measly cost. I had about five minutes of difficulty with it (hadn't inserted the SATA data cable all the way and didn't realize that, but after that it could not have been easier (make sure both blue power light and white SATA light are both on). Drive connected via this gizmo looks like any other USB storage device -- showed up on my system as the 'E:' drive. If you are truly in a hurry and your hardware supports it, get the USB 3.0 version -- I got the USB 2.0 version and it took maybe 30-40 minutes to transfer about 40G of data. But given that I plan to use this maybe once every 4-5 years, I was OK with the wait.BTW... Nowhere in the product description does it say that it works with Windows 10. But I figured it would (a USB device is a USB device, right... OS shouldn't really matter), so ordered it and (as you can tell from my review) it worked just fine with Windows 10.

Works great, so simple, access SATA and IDE hard drives, wish it were USB 3.0
This product just works. Comes with everything you need to connect a SATA or IDE drive to a USB port. No need to read the tiny manual; it's obvious what to do. No drivers to install or anything. I had never seen or used this before, but literally, no joke, within 60 seconds of opening the package I had connected an old IDE hard drive to my Windows 8.1 x64 laptop and suddenly it was just another hard drive on my computer. You can view, write, and copy files, format the drive, etc., just like any other hard drive.I used this product to look at the contents and then reformat three old hard drives (one IDE and two SATA) I had sitting on the shelf.I love little electronic products like this. Very inexpensive, no need to read the manual, doesn't require any drivers or messing around, just does one simple thing really well. One minor complaint: This product uses USB 2.0. In an ideal world, I wish it used the faster USB 3.0 and supported the fastest SATA standards. For casual use, it totally doesn't matter - USB 2.0 supports up to 480 Mbit/s (bits/second), which is 60 MB/s (bytes/second). An IDE drive supports data transfers of 133 MB/s, a SATA drive supports data transfers from 150 MB/s to 750 MB/s (depending on the drive and which SATA standard). So for heavy use, if you were mirroring a drive or doing backups or something else data intensive, the USB 2.0 interface will slow things down. If this product instead used USB 3.0, which supports 5 Gbit/s (625 MB/s), and if it were also upgraded to support the fastest versions of SATA, it could handle even the fastest hard drive at almost maximum speed and would be awesome. But if those features were added, the product would be more expensive. This is just a very handy cheap little frob. For those occasional, short-term connections to hard drives sitting on your shelf, this little gem can't be beat. I'm a fan. It's now a permanent part of my little computer tool collection.

Does exactly what it's supposed to
i was looking for a way to connect my old laptop hard drive externally. Then I stumbled on to this and decided to order it. Very easy to use, and worked right away without any problems. I was able to retrieve old documents that I needed to keep. Great product.

Práctico.
Hasta el momento sin problemas.Una opción económica para un conector externo de disco, eso si se debe tener cuidado en el uso pues lo materiales no son muy resistentes, aunque por su costo está bastante bien.

Great for SATA, not great, for me, for IDE/PATA. Seller great.
Product itself worked fine for SATA but didn't work for IDE/PATA.Giving 5 stars for the seller as they handled my issue quickly.
