Beautiful and Intriguing
I did not realize how big this book would be but when I opened it, my annoyance went away and I was enthralled- as was my 6 year old daughter- with the wonderful shapes, pictures and facts that it reveals. After one viewing- where she did not even get all the way through- my daughter went to school the next day and wrote a 5 page story just about Eurasian Eagle Owls and Barn Owls, stating interesting facts about them (eye sight, predatory behaviors, silent flying) and she came home wanting to pick up more facts to embellish her story! And this is a girl who normally just writes about princesses! The book can be browsed, read cover to cover, used as a reference. It is really a wonderful and artistic way to engage children with information.

Beautiful book, not for a home with tots
I returned this book. It is a beautiful book but it is a lot bigger than I thought it was. It belongs in a classroom, not a home. My kids would have wrecked it and for the money, that would have really bugged me. It is very neat and I know the kids would have loved it, but it wouldn't have lasted long at all. If you have older kids or are using as a learning tool where it will not be left out, then it is awesome.

Most Interesting Childrens Book of the Year
This oversize book is an bird playground for kids. There are cutouts and flaps hiding either birds or facts about them. It is pretty well put together which is a concern for a book of this type. That said if you want it to last a long time it would be best to either give to a slightly older child or supervise time with the book. My daughter who is 51/2 LOVES this book! There is another book from the same team called, "Out of Sight" which is also fun but not as complex or exciting as this title. Very clever and informative book. I will be getting extra copies to give away at Christmas time.

A beautiful book!
What a beautiful book! It's tough to tell who likes it more: the kids I gave it to or their parents. The illustrations are stunning. There's just about the right level of information and text -- maybe more than really young kids want but enough to keep their parents engaged while reading it aloud. And as lovely as the content is, the physical book is a delight, with cutouts and pop-ups on heavy, durable stock, and top-quality printing.

Gigantic and beautiful book
What a wonderful surprise we had when this huge and colorful book arrived. I knew it would be big, but it was so stunning to open. If you get this for a child, be sure to supervise the little ones who may be tempted to tear the flaps off. This book is too nice to let the pages get damaged. We love it!

Fun and Informative Book
I bought this book for my nephew who loves birds. He is really enjoying it. There are many flaps to lift inside that reveal information about the birds. However, it is not a toddler type lift the flap book.

Giant-Sized Fun
I got this book for my toddler daughter who loves birds. She loves this book. It is interactive with true-to-life details about each bird depicted. Her favorite page is the one with lift-the-flap egg shells that reveal a bird on the inside. The book is very large, so we usually read it together sprawled out on the floor. I highly recommend it!

Colorful and informative
This is a fun book that folds out. Only negative---it's difficult to hold because of its large size....solution, read it while it lies on a flat surface.

This is a beautiful book. It's big
This is a beautiful book. It's big, really big but that makes it even more special. The flaps which lift to show all sorts of information are wonderful. It's a great present for a child who is interested in birds or to create an interest in birds.

Bel libro pagato pochissimo
Bellissimo librone che i bambini si divertono a guardare, essendo composto da "finestre" di diversa forma e dimensione. Unica pecca il nome degli uccelli è in inglese...ma forse è più una difficoltà per noi adulti che per loro
