Good insurance
These work great..Just make sure you cut out the bottom half so it's ported. It will keep your speakers dry.

Best upgrade ever for $12 per pair of speakers.
These are straight bad arse. I am tickled that for less then $50 I was able to install these on 5 speakers in my Tahoe. I took out the Bose speakers (I know it sounds like a stupid move), but I swapped them for coaxial speakers of a much higher quality and the same ohms. I installed these Boom Mats after seeing them at the auto zone and WOW, what a difference. I actually uninstalled these baffles just to see how much a difference they actually made and again, WOW. The speakers sound more faint and a good bit less base without these baffles. The key is all in how well you install them. Order black silicone in a tube, this is necessary as you need to pierce the side or bottom of this baffle in order to route the speaker wires thru the baffle. Once they are thru, take the black or clear silicone and pack it around the base of the wire to reseal the hole the wire made. LET THE SILCONE DRY before you try out your system. I let it sit over night just to ensure the silicone was super dry as I was not trying pull door panels off again and reseal the holes. It is critical the baffle says sealed and is air tight. There are a few installation videos on YouTube, spend 30 minutes reviewing them to get familiar with how to install them. If you do the install wrong it will not sound like anything special. Good Luck.

Know your speakers before buying.
i hear positives and negatives on this product, but always have one question. Are you using on an "open air" or "closed air" speaker? Most people have no idea. If using on an open air speaker this product will destroy any low midrange or possibility of bass. If using a closed air speaker this product can (CAN) be a great substitute for building small enclosures for your speakers. Main problem is almost all aftermarket speakers are open air unless designed for specific applications where a car manufacturer sealed the speaker in. I personally cut these in half and use them for weather protectors, when needed, during installs. Another issue in speaker design is the pole vent. Many modern speakers use this design and the vent usually needs a minimum clearance. If that clearance is 1" and the baffle only leaves 1/2", you are defeating the design of the speaker right out of the box. You also have to know install clearances. If your car can take a 2-3/4" mounting depth, and the baffle is 4" deep, than the excess baffle just gets squished to 2-3/4", gets torn by your window, or can cause other problems. Simply put, know your speakers, your clearances, and your vehicles design.

Rain/water issue NO MORE!!!!!!!!
I bought these bc my car was leaking water in the door panel causing water damage to my previous speakers. It's something that can't be prevented so I purchased these. I didn't have any issues with it at all as far as the speakers over heating I didn't see any issues I played them for about 20 min. Felt the back and didn't feel heat. I know for sure water won't get in because I took heavy duty duct tape and taped off the spot that I had to cut under the mat to run the speaker wire. The foam material is pretty strong and thick. I'm very happy with my purchase. I did read some comments saying that they had to cut the bottom of the foam bc of breathing problems or the speakers bass sounded baffled I didn't have this issue with my JLs. They actually sound amazing!!! Just buy these I stressed over making my speakers water proof after many different attempts this was the least time consuming and less stressful. I tried plastic wrap and it sounded horrible. Even foam what a mess it damaged the speaker. You won't be disappointed with this product.

Cut a hole in them!!!
Purchased these to protect door speakers from water damage on a crew cab silverado (4 door speakers). These are supposed to make the sound better as well. Tried them out with JBL and with Kicker speakers, both good brands, yet the sound was terrible. Very muted and no bass, no thump. Ok, so it is a stock head unit, but should at least get reasonable sound with quality speakers. After doing some research I found many people recommend cutting a hole in them, usually on the bottom or back, so the speakers can breath. So, i tried it out on the front speakers. I cut the "lower" 1/3 of the baffle cone out so it will be more like an umbrella and reinstalled. WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE! Sounds like the stereo should. I slipped the fader from Front to Rear and was amazed at the difference. Then did the same thing on the rear speakers. Sounds awesome. So, will they help protect from water damage with the cutout? I think so. Time will tell. Worth purchasing for that aspect. But "maximize speaker performance"? Not from my experience.

Eliminates reverberation issues
My car is an Audi TT Roadster and I recently replaced the speakers behind the seat and had initially did not use this product. The area the speakers are mounted is a metal box which would reverberate taking out the detail of the bass and creating rattling. After installing I found the vibration is gone and the depth of the bass has better detail. Regarding installation it easy because this product is flexible. In my case I cut out about a 1/3 section of the foam base in the baffle cone for wiring and air movement. I placed the baffle against the metal wall then mounted the speaker frame mount on top. To secure the frame I had to blindly install nuts behind the metal wall which involved pushing the baffle to the side for access (used spring loaded toggle nut with a foam washer). Again the result was great and I plan to buy another pair when I replace the component speakers in the doors.

Square body chevys
I used these on my 99 Tahoe . I watched a YT video that the short ones would rub against the glass when the window came down after I bought the normal sized ones. So I just cut it half way, faced the speaker face down , put the end ( cup) part on the magnet part then slipped the flange part over the end ( cup) part . Then used some tape. It makes for a nice tight fit . Highly recommend for 88-98 Chevy truck body styles if your a handy person . Not only does it makes your stereo a cleaner sound but protects your speakers from the elements
