Be warned - extremely heavy, but very effective
These bolt cutters are extremely useful. I was helping a friend move recently and they needed to open and clear out their shed but in the hustle and bustle forgot the combination. I ordered a pair of these and brought them over to help out. The cutters cut through a masterlock combination lock like butter with no real effort on my part. It took only one attempt and the lock was cut in half and could be removed. Also, it should be noted that there was no sign that I had used them. The blades looked brand new, and no chipping or marks were present. Because of this, and since this is the type of tool the average homeowner will be using once in a blue moon, I am sure they will last me the rest of my life.HOWEVER, that being said, they are EXTREMELY heavy. It says on the listing when I bought them that they weighed 13 pounds. I do not believe this, as they feel more like 20 or 25 pounds. They are extremely heavy, and that is important to know, especially if you lack upper body strength. For most women or individuals who simply lack the strength, simply carrying these will prove to be a hassle, let alone putting them to work. However, for how big they are and how much pressure they use to break locks, the weight is justified. Just be aware of their weight before you purchase them so you know what you are getting into.In short, VERY effective. VERY heavy.

In a word: HUGE
When I was a kid, I used to watch this TV show called "Land of the Giants". As I recall, it was about this group of space travelers who left earth in their space ship, then returned only to discover that they had some how magically been shrunk down to a few inches tall; as a result everything in the world was now super sized to them. When I received my Neiko 36" bolt cutters in the mail, this is exactly how I felt. When I say these are huge, that's exactly what I mean. I had previously had a set of 24" H.K. Porter bolt cutters from Home Depot, which these replaced. I thought the HK cutters were pretty big, but I could probably use the Neiko 36" cutters to slice right through those. The Neiko 36" one are massive and well made. When they are totally open, the jaws look like they are over 3/4" wide at the tips. And the jaws are just huge, like the size of your hand huge. I mean, seriously heavy duty and massive. As soon as I finish this review, I'm going to have to buy a set of these same bolt cutters in the 24-inch size, just to have something more rational in size to use for day to day stuff around the shop. But if an M1A1 tank ever breaks down outside my house, these will definitely come in handy! So when people say in their reviews that these bolt cutters cut through a master lock "like butter", they are't joking around. The jaws on these bolt cutters are so large it looks like they could cut through not just the shackle on a master lock, but probably cut the lock itself in half without too much difficulty.

Great cutters, but no warranty or manufacturer to contact
After breaking the HF bolt cutters, these are working great. The jaws will definitely handle harder materials without even a dent on the jaws. So far, the handles seem to be sturdy and well secured. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that there is no warranty and there is no manufacturer information. The brand and importer are definitely a little nebulous when you try to find out any real information about them. They are obviously imported from some unknown factory in China, then branded to sell on Amazon, or wherever. So from Amazon, if you are in the initial Amazon return window, you are fine, otherwise, they are throw-away cutters. If you buy them, make sure you try them out on the worst jobs while still under the Amazon return. If they make it through some tough work during that period, they should last awhile. The price is right, and they are definitely worth the extra cost over the HF cutters.

Amazing bolt cutters, simply the best cut for the buck.
The Neiko Tools heavy duty 4,000lb bolt cutter is no joke. It is a serious tool built in the solid style of tools from the past that can stand the test of time. Solid, heavy, and absolutely the type of bolt cutter Tony the toolman recommends. My wife had purchased a large Master Lock for our outside shed; it was the type where you can choose your own combination. We did not realize the tumbler it used has to be flat, the first time we put the lock on the shed vertical instead of horizontal the lock would not open. Time for some bolt cutters! I went to Lowe's and found some average bolt cutters for $60.00, I thought that was a bit much, so imagine my surprise to see these bad boys at such a good price on Amazon. They are larger, heavier, and more solid than any cutters I've handled from Lowe's or Home Depot. More importantly they sliced through a large Master Lock like it was made of water! I had the job done in less time than it took to get them out of the box.Granted you have to have strong hands and forearms to get the most out of these in order to hold them level and close them smoothly, but if you do you will exert little effort cutting through jobs that would make you sweat with any other pair of bolt cutters I've owned. I'm very impressed with what you get for the money here.

Works very well and the price was right
Knowing that I would be using this tool only occasionally, I did not want to spend two-hundred dollars (or more) on one. My cutter arrived quickly and in good shape. The action was pretty stiff. I applied some WD-40 and adjusted the tightness of the bolts. The tool now opens and closes more easily. Better yet, it cuts 1/4" steel rods like butter. While cutting, I rested one of the handles on the floor while pushing downward on the other handle. This tool cut the metal bars with very little effort on my part. Even after about 20 cuts, the cutting (crushing) blades still look new. This bolt cutter is fairly heavy which tells me that it is heavy-duty. I can't attest to the long-range durability. But so far I am impressed. I feel that I made a good decision in choosing this cutter.
