When I put the sand in it looked like milk for hours u til I finally saw it ...
I'm new to sand and after looking up how to use sand as a substrate I went to Lowes and bought play sand. That was a big mistake. When I put the sand in it looked like milk for hours u til I finally saw it wasn't going to work. Between my filter and air pump the sand would keep stirred up. So I went back and googled the best sand to use and this came up. I had reservations because of what I had just went through but it turned out great. It was super easy. I held the bag down in the water and dumped it in. It settled immediately with barely any in the water. You simply skim with a net the pieces that float and you're done. The sand is sealed and made of larger grains. But the best thing about it is that it's heavy. It doesn't float up or stir up and and get in the filter. I just vaccumed it with my siphon and there were no problems. All that gets sucked up is the fish waste because the sand is heavy enough not to get sucked up too. Easy breezy and I'm happy I got rid of the gravel. Highly recommended.

Marine Sand
Not happy with the way it looks in tank.

This is the best aquarium sand around.
Estes is the only sand I'll use in my tanks. It's heavy enough to not get sucked into your filter/propeller and looks great, too. I've tried other sands and they've always looked dirty compared to the Estes sand or get sucked up into my filtration system causing annoying grinding and damage. Do yourself a favor and get this stuff, you don't want to take the time and energy to replace a substrate only to be annoyed by it and have to do all the hard work over again.

Crashed my tank
I have a 75gal mixed reef tank that was doing great as a bare bottom tank. Wanted to add a little sand just for aesthetics, so I added only 15 lbs to make a 1/2 inch layer. Next day my SPS are all bleached out, LPS are all closed, and my softies are shrived or detached. I would never recommend that anyone put this in there marine tank.

The sand was clean and easy to put into the tank after a bit of a rinse.

Best sand for an aquarium hands down!
This is hands down the best sand on the market. It is the only one I trust. I do aquarium maintenance for a living and this sand requires no cleaning before or after it's added to the tank, is very uniform, the perfect size, sinks quickly when the fish mess with it, and comes in different colors. I usually mix half black and half white so the sand isn't too dark or too light and it hides anything that may settle on it really well. I have sold this sand to dozens and dozens of customers and clients over the years, not once has a single one come back with a complaint. Many have come back for more to switch their other tanks over to it once they see how good it is.
