Outstanding survival and bushcraft information!!!
I own a number of survival booklets by Mors Kochanski and all of them are extraordinary values in the world of bushcraft/survival information. Mr. Kochanski is a true outdoorsman and it's clear when reading his material that his advice comes from years of trial and error on the trail and in the bush. His writing style is easy to read and to the point with very little "fluff" or filler. This booklet, "Survival Kit Ideas" gives plenty of detailed information about suggested items to bring along in different situations and geographic regions. Obviously, Mr. Kochanski leans his advice towards what works in the "Northern Woods" since this his territory of choice but most, if not all, of his advice is applicable to other areas/climates. And as the previous reviewer mentioned, I really like the credo that Mr. Kochanski lives by. It should be the first and last thing you tell yourself everyday in the bush regardless of your situation/status. This booklet, along with all other by Mors Kochanski, should be a must-read for any true outdoorsman or person looking to become involved in the outdoors. I highly recommend all of Mr. K's booklets as the information you get is very valuable and the cost is very low.

Good read
Informative and easily understandable. I plan on purchasing more of his manuals, possibly in the next few seconds. Definitely mass me want to go out into the woods and see how I'd do, after I read some more that is.

Excellent information
I purchased 14 of Mr. Kochanski's booklets yessterday, after years of hearing that I should get them and after purchasing his book on Bushcraft a couple of years ago. I look at his writing as someone with decades on a SAR team, looking to educate friends and family. This is an excellent booklet (revised in 2011) from a very knowledgable man. It covers considerations regarding the area you may be using the kit in, what is important to have and why. He starts the info off with his Credo, which is a page you should copy and place into your kit (if not the entire booklet) and includes info and a sketch of his "survival scarf".If you spend any time in remote areas, you should make this small investment for you and your family's safety.

More gold from Mors.
As always, great and practical guidance that comes from years and years of experience in the wilderness setting. No fluff. No gimmicks. Only what you need - nothing less, nothing more.

Incomplete.
This is not a survival book. It is woefully incomplete. It is just a list of things to put in a survival kit without proper instruction how to use them, and more importantly why one should carry them; then there are a few things that should have been included in the list that was not mentioned at all.People will tell you that you cannot learn survival from a book.I will say that learning survival from a book is a lot harder than learning in a survival course because the instructor is not there to tell you what you are doing wrong. But it IS possible to go out in the woods and practice those skills until you know how and why those techniques work. My friend on the "Survivsl On Purpose" You Tube channel calls practicing survival skills getting dirt time.If you want to learn survival; I can highly recommend four books in the following order"When All He'll Breaks Loose" Cody Lundin"Survival Guide" Randy Gerke"Survival Guide" J Wayne FearsI read these three books every single year to keep the concepts fresh in mind.Another book I can recommend it but still reading it and mulling over the concepts in the book is"Green Beret Survival book" Mykel Hawke.I could give you a whole list of not recommended books. There is another book that I can not put in either category yet. The SAS SURVIVAL by John Lofty Wiseman.'

Kochanski's approach to survival kits has very practical application to those of us living in Canada and the northern U.S. This is not the typical regurgitation of the old Air Force Survival manuals. This is pure, original trial-and-error in the boreal forest put down on paper.

Detailed but lacking illustrations
Every to the point but lacking illustrations to assist understanding. A lot about piloting as well for some reason. Overall worth $2
