"Just like old times, Shepard" - (No, really... this is an ME2 Garrus!)
(See the end for comparison to the Square Enix version )There are very few game characters I've found that made me want to get the action figure. Garrus Vakarian, aka Archangel, the CSec Agent who teams up with Commander Shepard to save the galaxy from an ancient menace, is one of them.Garrus is part of the Series 2 action figures from the Mass Effect universe. While the packaging indicates him to be a Mass Effect 3 accessory, Garrus is clearly as he appears in Mass Effect 2, his armor and bandaging showing the after effects of catching a rocket with his face. He's in the signature black/blue medium armor he sported in ME2, and carries a Widow sniper rifle.Like the other game action figures I own, he's not very flexible when it comes to his moving joints. I've come to expect this - it seems that when the figures are this detailed, posability is sacrificed**. And I'm OK with that. It's a fairly sturdy plastic resin with some give. His head swivels left and right, while shoulders and hip joints swing fore and aft, but not loosely, so he'll keep his pose. Knees and elbows are slightly less stiff, but still hold their pose as well. The wrists only rotate, but loosely, so his ability to hold the Widow is more owed to gravity, his arms and the slight curve of his fingers than anything else. The base is simple, a flat plastic disc with a mounting 'nub' about 1/8th of an inch in height that fits into the sole of his right foot securely enough to stay put. Keeping him upright is a matter of pose and balance. A too-dynamic pose, and he'll topple, base and all.I don't know that I'd call the colors completely accurate, but I'd be relying entirely on my memory of his armor, which to my mind was somewhat less black in the smaller details. Other details are intact, such as the holes in his carapace and scorch marks painted into the finish. The actual physical detail of the figurine I cannot be disappointed in, and I'm happy to have Garrus and his sniper rifle watching over my bookshelf.EDIT: The Square Enix Garrus figure is due out in the US this holiday season, but is already available in Japan (which is why I can tell you about it now). The SqueEnix figure is a taller, more poseable Garrus, but also a ME3 based figurine, unlike the Big Fish version here. He comes with a spare set of hands (because who couldn't use an extra set of hands?) and both a M29 Incisor sniper and an M15 Vindicator assault rifle.**Square made a more dynamic figure, with a range of natural motion in all the joints, which the Big Fish version is not capable of. No stand, therefore, so it's a balancing act, unless you just never take your figures out of the box. Square will also be producing other ME3 characters.

i'm in a middle of some calibrations..
let me start off saying I love mass effect and so I was really interested if there was some toy manufactures make any toys off of one the most beloved games and I saw Garrus thats when I had to spend some money lol so yeah I got this item today 6/2/12 and I love this garrus figure he comes with two accessories he has a sniper and a bblack base but the paint application is superb no weird paint smuges anywhere now play arts kai is making a bada** Garrus figure so if i were you I'd pre-order it NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW ! cant wait to get my hands on that one its. Now this a must have for any video game collector, casual collector and for any age group highly reccomend theres been some really negative reviews and comments on this but for me I guess it was just pure luck I got a really good one but go on youtube to decide for yourself I will explain articulation below.articulation: both hands turns 360 degrees, head can be moved side to side, knees can be slighly bent, waist can be turn 180 degrees, and arms can be moved side to sideNote: that this figure does have poor articulation and his forarms are extremly fragile so becareful the reason I give this figure a 4.9 is becuase how good the paint application it is but thats mine yours may be different so again do alittle reasearch on this figure and make sure you are willing to spend money your.5 out 5: 4.9

Awful paint job
I had to buy Garrus to go with Shepard. But whereas Shepard was a 4/5 figure, Garrus is a 2/5. I don't know if I got a particularly bad figure or not but the paint job is terrible. The face sculpt is good but the color they used is this weird beige-grey color. His eyes are black holes of emptiness. His face tattoos are black instead of blue, etc.Articulation is also terrible but that's to be expected due to the armor. But the worst thing is that my figure can't actually hold onto the Widow that he comes with because his thin 3 fingered Turian hand can't keep a tight grip on the weapon.

I'm not terribly picky about my toys
I'm not terribly picky about my toys, I was simply looking for something to stand up next to my monitor that reminded me of my favorite character in the game. The price was certainly more than I expected to pay for something like this, but the sentiment is what made it worth it for me. The details seem very solid, The figure also felt heavier than I expected it to be. The slight cant to the character's head is very reminiscent of his attitude. I also really liked the colors used on the model. The dark blues and blacks used really make the silver pieces stand out.It came with a well detailed rifle that basically sits in the character's hands. With a little work, it can be made to stay put, though it doesn't look pretty. (When held between both hands). Also, his visor thing does not extend over his eye, it seems to hover a little bit behind it.Finally, it came with a code that despite stating it expired on 12/31/2012, I was able to redeem without issue.

Repainted the inaccurately colored face, but overall satisfied!
The action figure's face when received was pretty ugly, but if you're willing to take it out of the package, a quick repaint fixes that.Overall, I really like this action figure. One knee joint is looser than the other making it a bit hard to balance on the stand, but I do not intend on using it for anything other than display so it didn't quite bother me. After some adjustment I was able to have it stand sturdy. The paint job on the rest of the figure is pretty nice and didn't require some TLC.

You're reading this in his voice, aren't you.
I'm thinking in Garrus' voice right now. I just can't resist it. I have to avoid looking at this action figure before conference calls otherwise I sound... different. On the plus side, people DO tend to do what I tell them.If you have cats, they will LOVE the Black Widow. I know, shocking, right? Luckily I was able to get it away from them before they got up to where the dog was.
