Royal Racks We’ve re-designed these racks with a consistent thread size all the way through. We now provide two different screws which are different in length but share the same diameter. Our shorter of the two screws has been designed for assembling the rack. The smaller size allows you to build your rack in half the time. The longer screws are designed for installing accessories and they provide a more stable fit for securing equipment. Plus, we’ve incorporated a built-in non-conductive washer. Both are equipped with a self-starting tip making this rack simple to assemble and hassle-free. Knock-Outs Unlike others, we’ve laced our racks with (2) 2-inch holes at the top, on the base, and along the sides enabling you to easily run wires/cables to your equipment. We’ve also added (2) 120mm knock-outs at the top & bottom of the rack, which allow you to easily add the proper thermal management system (sold separately). Or, you can use them for running wires within the rack which is especially handy when stacking two of our racks together. 4 X U = Smile On Your Face! Running out of accessory screws while on the job is always a pain, so we’ve developed a formula in order to prevent this from happening to you. Within every one of our Royal Racks comes a pack of accessory screws based on how many “U” spaces the rack has. For every 1U you’ll receive (4) accessory screws. Plus, you’ll receive an additional bag containing the shorter assembly screws. This 42u rack comes with (168). Royal Finish Manufactured from strong steel with a black powder coat finish, these Royal Racks are sure to look good

My First Rack Purchase (And A Hint)
When you start out with no background, there are few things that are confusing about buying an equipment rack. This version has threaded holes (with screws/bolts provided) to mount shelves and accessories. I learned after-the-fact that another type of rack uses "square" holes for the screws and that those come with a square insert that is threaded. If one of those doesn't work, you can easily replace it. If one of the threaded holes on this rack doesn't work, you've got to move to another threaded hole. It was workable for me, but I didn't realize there was a difference.I read the negative reviews, so I was prepared for the worst, but I was disappointed (in a good way). Everything arrived undamaged, all the parts fit and it looks good. This is my first rack system and my needs are fairly lightweight. A couple of suggestions: (1) Look at the instructions closely. There are slots that need to line up correctly on each side. (2) Consider a flexible screwdriver. I used a Wera Kraftform 392 Hexagon Flexible Shaft Bitholding Screwdriver, 1/4" Head, 177mm Blade Length (purchased on Amazon). It made some of the screws easier to get to and turn. (3) This should be obvious, but the taller the unit, the more "top heavy" it will be. Putting heavy equipment on the lower racks will help increase stability a little bit. Overall, it's a very nice rack for the money.Hint: I had a few screws/bolts that did not have flawless threading on them. I used a nut (from my own supply) to thread the bolts into before trying to install them on the rack. As I did this, I could feel that there were some rough edges, but going through the nut took them off. I was able to start the bolts by hand after that and get them in 1/2 an inch or so before using a screwdriver. I fouled up a few of the threads on the rack before I stumbled on this process.

Defective Design
Purchased this rack less the 2 years ago. It sat in my garage unused for more than a year. I started using it in February 2015. Where it sat in my office holding less than 300 pounds of stereo equipment. Then I started to remodel where I moved it to another room. Then I returned it to my office after the reminding was finished and notice it was not sitting level. I checked it and one of wheels was broken. The nut had come loose and wheel was now free. To make matters worse the shelve that holds the nut is welded shut so that you can't gain entry to try to retrieve the screw to fix it. This item is sold as a professional unit and it could not withstand moving it from one room to another. Do not buy this unit because the weight is supported by 4 nuts with screws as a opposed to casters on a metal plate allowing it's load to be equally distributed on 4 metal plates and not on 4 nuts and 4 screws. The seller refused take it back or offer any resolution whatsoever.

Wheels defective
Wheels failed after two months. Not even 200lbs on this rack. Seller pretty much unhelpful. Wound up buying a second rack and dropping $100 at Home Depot on capable swivel top plate casters. We installed our new casters on the new base tossing the old broken threaded stem casters in the trash and 8 screws a second new rack and two capable men later problem resolved

Perfect for house AV and Networking
Purchased this to expand my whole house AV/network setup. Very well built and can't beat the price. Converted a closet that was not very deep and this fits perfectly in the opening. My only suggestion is to not put your heavy components in the top of the cabinet. Due to the small footprint it could become unstable but it's no big deal. Highly recommended and would buy again. Fast shipping and easy to assemble.

Instructions could be better
Easy enough to assemble although the instructions could be clearer. Couple of extra u-fold metal components that do not appear anywhere in the instructions and have not heard from the seller regarding these. They do not appear to be critical but...

Why does it shake and giggle when you move it around?
It's just okay. Wiggles and giggles due to insufficient bracing. This product needs additional bracing and, sure, you can go to Lowes and buy the needed bracing, but why doesn't the supplier provide the needed bracing. The instructions state and show the additional bracing so, was this a cost cutting measure? Also, it is about 1/2" too tall to clear a closet door. Perhaps the diameter of the wheels are too large?

Major manufacturing flaw, but still super solid.
Came without holes for screws on one side of the base...really disappointing, but still totally solid and function even without.
