These are very simple to install, but they come with a rubber band to secure them to the faucet. In places with abundant sunshine I seriously doubt that the rubber band will last even one entire winter. I think a twist tie would be much better. The insulation is enclosed in black plastic sheeting, and I am very interested to see how this holds up to the weather. The size seems to be just right for a variety of faucet types. After this winter, I may very well revisit this review.Springtime update: This was one of the coldest winters on record in Nevada, and these guys hung in there just fine. No cracks after being down to about 20 degrees F. And, the faucets did not freeze! Always a plus!January 2015 update: I have had these covers installed for more than two years now, with most of them left on faucets year around. The sun has not degraded the outside plastic cover, and they have performed very well. Because of this experience, I am changing my rating from 3 to 5. Still wish they came with a long twist tie instead of the rubber band.

The product is made of open-cell foam enclosed within a folded plastic bag. A rubber band is used to secure the product to the pipe leading to the outside faucet. The rubber band on 2 of the 3 units purchased did not withstand my local weather condition broke thus no longer properly protecting the faucet and pipe.On each of my 3 faucets, the product was not deep enough to also cover (protect) the 2" length of pipe leading to the faucet. Consequently, I had to use standard foam pipe insulation to complete the project. I hadn't compared the depth of this product to its competitors so I don't know if is smaller than the others. Never-the-less, it is an issue that the potential purchasers should be aware of.

This product is simply a black plastic bag (like a garbage bag but thicker), a foam pouch, and a thick rubber band to secure the cover to a faucet. It worked perfectly for me as I needed to modify it to insulate a sprinkler system anti-siphon valve which turned out to be very simple to do with a pair of scissors. I had gotten some and gave some to my Father as a gift. And friends seen them and wanted them for themselves. And they are a life saver. I have given them to my sister and she lives in Chicago. And it is very cold there. And they came in handle she said for her. My father given them to his friends and neighbors. And they are enjoying them very much. I will be planning on ording more for myself and others. They come in hand very much.

Simple, inexpensive and effective. These faucet covers are protecting my outdoor faucets perfectly and our weather has gotten down into the 20's already. The product was shipped promptly and they are very easy to install. No problem with them coming off - snug as a bug in a run - that would describe my outdoor faucets.

minimally functional. I suppose that it will provide some resistance to the cold, but it certainly won't last long. Maybe not even the whole winter season.

put these on our outdoor spigots in November and so far no problems with broken pipes. The furnace couldnt keep up with the pace of this winter but the pipes are fine. We are on storm winter warning number three for this winter here in Memphis!!!

Works well in keeping the faucet from freezing. Be careful slipping it on the sill. One of my handles tore the fabric and I had to tape it back together.
