Wonderful fantasy novel! Karlan builds the world of Capriath with astounding detail and believability and has crafted her characters with honesty and ability to relate to the reader. Karlan is a beautiful fantasy writer for her generation and I look forward to more of her work!

This fantasy is wonderful. The young author's power of description really transforms you into the characters' world. The book would make a strong box office movie. Hopefully we will hear more from Jesse in the future.

Very fun fantasy. Lots of complicated characters to get involved with and enjoy, humans and creatures alike. Intricate plot that weaves through elaborate world-building. Lots of imagination in this story. Many twists and turns that will keep readers on their toes, and a surprise ending I didn't see coming! A great adventure, especially for fantasy lovers.

It's hard to find compelling fiction in the fantasy genre but Jesse Karlan has written a captivating book with characters that are fleshed out, believable and easy to love. At 368 pages, it's a great ride and will leave you wanting more from this emerging writer.
