Perfect for its intended role
It is not the most secure feeling lock, but it is not intended to be. It is intended for light duty deterrence to quick and easy intrusion. I feel like it does that really well. It is very simple to change the combination, and it feels like it will hold up pretty well in its intended role. I like it because the shank diameter is small enough to fit through the lock holes in the boxes I have. The stronger locks all have a larger shank diameter that will not work for me. The combination dials also have a relatively positive click which makes it easy to unlock, although those with larger hands/fingers may find that they turn multiple dials at the same time.I use it to secure a plastic field box from curious little hands and I do not want to keep track of keys. It does that job very well for the price, and I will be buying more.

Sturdy tiny lock
I use this little lock with a small titanium eved woven cable when I stop for coffee on a bike ride. It's mostly just to be a nuisance and to delay somebody trying to run off the with the bike. But it seems pretty durable for its size and it unlocks and locks reliably. And its weight is barely noticeable in my back pocket .

Functional
Feels kind of cheap and rudimentary but from what I’ve read these locks are more secure than others. It gets the job done.

Sturdy lock! Hard to pick!
This is a good lock, I forgot the combination and spent two hours fiddling with it to remember what the combination was. I got it open with a combination (ha, lock puns) of vaguely remembering at least two of the digits and some lock decoding tricks online. There is *very* few videos online of how to "decode" this lock which is a plus for anyone who is securing things against people who have *no* idea of any of the numbers. This lock apparently has "false gates" which basically means it tricks you to think you've found a good number when you haven't.There is no such thing as a perfect and unbeatable lock; but this one would require an amateur the free time to look up the *two* YouTube videos that exist (one in German one in English) and then fiddle with the lock for at least one or two hours before decoding it. This assuming they don't have something that can just cut through the steel of course.Definitely a good purchase to use for "semi casual" levels of security. I use it with my PacSafe security bag so it just has to protect against casual theft by housekeeping or someone who follows housekeeping into the room. In theory there won't be a thief who has access and all the tools out in the open but one never knows!

Fantastic, easy to use, and durable set-your-own lock
What a fantastic lock. These are German locks are solid, well-made, and are very easy to set. I've purchased 10 of them so far, and they have been utterly reliable. Some users complain about the dials being difficult to turn, but my experience has been the opposite. The dials turn easily, but crisply with a satisfying click for each number. Contrast these locks to some Master set-your-own four-wheelers that have very soft, spongy wheels, and there is no comparison. The colors are great, and the body of the lock is solid. I use these locks to secure my firearms and ammunition and the lock colors help me to maintain a couple lock sets (and, thus, different combinations).I have an expectation that these will last me a very long time, and so far, we're off to a very good start. Definitely five stars, and I'll be purchasing more soon.

Beautiful, but poor functional design.
1. Beautiful finish.2. Easy instructions.3. Numbers don't move smoothly, they stick!4. You can not scramble the combination with it unlocked and then close the clasp/lock! Stupid! You should be able to do that.5. There is no point to having a lock where you must leave the combination showing the entire time it is unlocked for everybody to see before you lock it.6. The action is not smooth.I really wanted to like it, but there are just too many deficiencies. I would not order this again.

The largest lock my case will accept. Super for low risk situations: nosy/opportunistic pillagers.
The largest lock my PacSafe 12L will accept. Works SMOOTHLY! I would NOT use this to lock an expensive bicycle in a big city, but its ideal for say, a quick trip into a cafe or museum while on a tour; or for your PACSAFE mesh cover for your luggage while at the hotel. Quality and smooth operating is refreshing.

Hardened shackle and good for low risk applications, but made in China, not Germany
These are pretty decent low-security locks. Resetting the combination is simple and fast and works in the same way as most manufacturers with similar self-setting combination padlocks. These are however made in China and not Germany as the description indicates. I contacted the manufacturer and they're updating their product pages to reflect this, but the description on Amazon is also equally wrong. Abus assured that these meet the same specifications and testing as their German-made counterparts, but the tolerances are still not super tight. (By comparison, the 4 digit version of this feels crisper on the dials and the shackle has less play.) There is no TSA keyway or access for this lock.I did take a file to the shackle and it does confirm to be hardened steel which is nice for a lock of this size. It still could be easily cut with larger bolt cutters, but is a deterrent to some and makes it less likely at someplace like on a gym bag or small box. They also appear to have false gates making decoding or normal 'picking' methods slower. However, with just a three digit combination, a brute force attack where you simply try every combination would take about 15-20 minutes. Helpful if you ever forget the combination and why this should also be considered for low-security applications. In summary, this appears to be a better lock than most more cheaply made Chinese locks you'll find on other brands and at this price-point, but it is still not to be used as anything more than a deterrent on low-risk items. Stars removed for the manufacturing description inaccuracies and lose tolerances.

Really simple to use. I will never spin again with a conventional padlock :)

A sturdy, secure and inexpensive lock.
I purchased this lock to replace a much cheaper one that snapped on a locker. This lock is very sturdy and feels solid in your hand. The dials click while being rotated, so you know they are in the correct position. It is easy to program your own combination. Can’t think of any cons for this lock at all. Highly recommended!

Great lock with above average protection
Abus is well-known in the lock-picking community for making great products. This follow this trend. It's easy to configure and resist most conventional locking techniques used to bypass a lock. Basically if the thief is not equipped with specialized tools (or chemicals), he will not be able to bypass this lock and will have to move on to another.I liked this lock so much I got a second one. These are now our preferred lock for the gym and the pool.Aluminum body makes it lightweight, and the colouring and branding are well done. This does not look or feel cheap. If you are looking for a lock that will give you peace of mind, this is it.
