PPI PE Environmental Review – A Complete Review Guide for the PE Environmental Exam

Worth the investment and helped me out tremendously
With the new test format, test takers only need to look at a few sections of FE Review manual, namely Math, Stat, Engineering Econ, Ethics, Thermodynamics, Materials, and Fluid Mechanics. This is a blessing, as the test used to encompass all fields, including electric, statics, and dynamics, all of which I hate. This also means that the test is more heavily focused on discipline specific questions.Being two years out of undergrad, I was worried that I wouldn't remember much of the specifics involved with the Environmental Engineering Questions, which as the NCEES manual shows, makes up a good majority of the test questions. With this book, you are essentially getting 3 practice tests. I took my time solving each problem, and the book helped me get accustomed to the location and usage of equations in the manual. The practice questions are a good representation of the actual test questions, and helped me out with (what I thought) is the most difficult part of the exam, which is determining if a question is supposed to be easy or supposed to be hard (You'll see what I mean by that).I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone taking the Environmental FE exam.

Worth the money if you have no other study materials
Not sure how good this book is compared with others, but I used it as my only study material and passed the test. I found that the questions in here were a bit more difficult that tests on the actual exam. If you have no other study materials available to you, I would recommend getting this book. It outlines all of the sections of the test and provides you with plenty of examples.

Decent but incomplete
This was a decent review manual to use in conjunction with the general review book ( FE Review Manual: Rapid Preparation for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, 3rd Ed ), and studying the two together helped me pass the FE on my first attempt. A few criticisms: the book doesn't cover groundwater at all, and neither did the general review book. I assume this is because groundwater falls into the category of "civil engineering" and as such would be covered in a civil review manual, but it's an unfortunate omission given that the Environmental FE featured a number of groundwater problems. This book was also weak on biological wastewater treatment processes, with mediocre coverage of activated sludge and anaerobic digestion. Neither this book nor the general review book did a good job of covering toxicology and risk. Finally, the FE exam has questions on environmental regulations that are not addressed in this book. I would recommend working through this book thoroughly and addressing groundwater, toxicology, and regulations with some separate reading.

Does what it says
I used this book as a tool to pass the PE exam, but it was not the main material I used. I relied the most on reviewing the free handbook you will use during the exam, reviewing past college textbooks, and many practice problems. Reviewing this book alone will not be enough to pass, which it states in the text, but its geared more towards being a tool to supplement their online courses. I believe it is possible to pass by applying to their course, but money can be saved by using other resources. Free handbook is key!

I bet this is a great study guide for those who want to study maybe ...
When I paid 67 dollars for this book I was expecting something that, as the product description states, "Provides the in-depth review" I need to pass. When the book arrived at my house I joked that the tiny package was my study book for the FE. Turns out it was. This book is 100 pages long. So sure, I bet this is a great study guide for those who want to study maybe the week before their exam, but for those who want to actually study "in-depth review" don't get this book.I feel incredibly misled, especially with the price. I cannot believe this 100 page, paperback book cost $67 dollars.

Good source of practice problems
Even with the new computer-based testing format, the best preparation you can do for the FE is learning where pertinent equations and charts are in the NCEES Handbook. Practice problems are the best way to become familiar with the handbook, and this review manual is a great source for practice problems. The questions in this book are a little more difficult than the questions on the FE, so if you can do every problem in this book, you'll be well prepared for the real test.

Delayed Shipping and Binding already Ruined
I ordered the book and it was scheduled to arrive 1 day later. That day came and went and so did the next, the book was delayed 2 days. That's not a huge deal, but when I got the book and have only opened it about 2-3 times (not even leaving it open for more than a quick scan of the pages) the binding is already failing and pages are going to start falling out. I am disappointed because of how much of an investment this book is.

This was very useful - good practice exams and easy to follow explanations
This was very useful - good practice exams and easy to follow explanations. The only thing I'd say is the questions here were harder than those in the actual exam, but that's probably better than the opposite.
