Amazing!!!
I only leave reviews when one is deserved being good or bad. This knife is phenomenal!!!. I am a borderline knife addict and this knife is one of the best knives I have ever owned. I have at least 1 knife from most high end knife makers including Rick hinderer and Chris Reeves. This knife is offcoarse not made of the same higher end steel as those but the fit and finish is impressive and the design of this knife....is the my favorite among all the knives i own. The gimping and finger choil, ergonomics and blade shape is amazing. This is as good or better then knives in the 100 to 200 dollar price range. This is much cheaper then that because of the non exotic blade steal of 8cr13mov. Which in my opinion is plenty good for daily use. The blade stays sharp andIf needed is very easy to sharpen compared to s30v ect. The handle scales are glass reinforced nylon and have a cool and very grippy honeycomb pattern which works very well and goes with the theme of the knife. The knife can be flipped with the flipper or flicked open like a spyderco with the hole in the blade. The bearings are a nice touch fir the price and are smooth as butter. The whole box and presentation is just phenomenal for the price. I hope in the future Western Active comes out with more styles and possibly with better materials. I can't recommend this knife enough. I don't know how they did it. Buy now!!!!!

Good Quality Knife, Great Price, Several Good Features, One Negative
This knife is a rock solid product and the price can't be beat. It is light weight, made of quality materials, nicely designed and feels good in the hand. The blade is very stable when extended. The bearings on which the blade rotates provide a quick smooth action requiring only a sharp snap of the flipper to extend and lock the blade. Some may prefer a beefier grip, but to me it is the right balance between size, weight and grip texture for a pocket knife. The pocket clip is only set up for a right handed user, but it's position results in a deep carry position. I haven't bought real expensive knives because there are so many good knives at reasonable prices, so if I lose or damage one I can easily and inexpensively replaced it.The only complaint I have about this knife is in disengaging the liner lock. The liner lock lever often gets pretty tightly wedged requiring extra force to disengage it. I'm not going to try to fix the problem at this point. I'm going to give use a chance to correct it. I'm withholding a star on the review pending resolution of the problem.Update: The sticky liner lock lever continued to be a problem after many blade deployments, so I decided to take it apart and check the finish on the points of contact of the liner lock. Advice: don't attempt to take the knife apart unless you are experienced or mechanically inclined. I found the end of the spring locking lever to essentially be unfinished causing the area of contact with the back the blade to be very rough. This was the cause of the sticky liner lock. I smoothed it with a quick touch of the rotary tool and some very fine carbide sand paper until it was smooth. The liner lock is now very smooth. The issue I raised earlier is resolved. I consider this matter one of quality control since I've not seen this complaint in another review. If I had been unable to resolve this problem myself I would have returned the knife. One other observation I found is that the blade when folded in the handle is off center. I attribute that to the pressure of the lock lever and the detent on the lever which places the blade slightly to one side when folded. The detent is there to hold the blade in the handle when folded, and it's very good at that, so I don't consider it an issue since the blade does not make contact with the the liner on the other side of the handle.2nd Update: I like the Honey Badger knife so well I purchased a medium size with a tan grip. All the positive things I said about the large knife are true of the medium. Unfortunately so is the one negative thing. The liner lock lever hangs up a bit on this knife as well when preparing to fold the blade. The lever is initially somewhat difficult to move to the left on the way to disengaging the lock. The liner lock lever on this medium size knife doesn't stick quite as much as was the case with the large size, but it's still takes more effort than just the motion to get it started. As was the case with the large knife I took this knife apart and filed and polished the "raw" end of the lock lever. After putting the knife back together the lever smoothly moves away from the back of the blade without sticking. This finishing of the end of the lever isn't rocket science, but it seems to be more than a quality control issue. There needs to be a deliberate minute or two of effort to file and smooth the end of the lever during initial construction. If this matter is resolved I would give the Honey Badger 5 stars. As it came the knife is functional but the initial extra effort to disengage the liner lock was a distraction for me, something the user shouldn't have to experience or even think about. I would have given the knife 3 stars but for the other good features of the knife. I noted on the large size knife that the blade is slightly off center when folded in the handle. That isn't the case with this medium size knife. When folded the blade is centered in the handle.

Nice budget friendly working knife
I have the large blue in D2. For the money you get a good deal. The attached photo has some comparably priced competitors of note. On top the Kizer Roach is about $80 and offers better steel better ergonomics and smoother action but is much heavier and has smooth slick scales. The Spidey tenacious is a little cheaper at $50 but has poor 8cr steel and terrible action(I would not buy a cheap spider again). I did add titanium scales to the spider for an additional $20 because the stock scales were cheap looking/feeling. The Kershaw Link was about $50 with engraving has slightly poorer steel (440) but is assisted and has a nice stonewash blade that hides marks. The badger has good ergonomics decent steel (D2 although mine arrived scratched) and decent action. The scales give good grip and are light but like the spider look/feel cheap. The detent is a bit aggressive and you really need to press hard on the flipper. It deploys much easier/smoother if you flick with thumb or finger. The liner lock is a bit thin much like the spiders. Overall a good deal at this price. This is a good addition to the work knife rotation and definitely better than a comparable spider. Overall I would score the badger as a solid 4 star knife. I would happily spend more if they come out with a version that offers better steel and scales.
