Russian Caravan is a blended of Llapsang Souchong with Assam black tea. Lapsang souchong tea leaves are dried in bamboo baskets over pine fires. The Russian Caravan is a medium strong tea that has a smoky aroma and a hint of malt flavor. This tea is perfect for dinner parties. Historically, the Russian Caravan tea was the most important drink after vodka in Russia. During the time of Czar, chest of tea would travel on camelback from China to Moscow. This tea was famous for the smoky smell of the campfire it would absorb along the journey.

Not as good as the discontinued Peet's Russian Caravan
Compared to Peet's: this is smoky in the aroma but less so in the taste. The tea itself is HALF AS STRONG. We must use quite a bit more of it to achieve comparable flavor, but conversely have to remove the tea leaves more quickly because this tea develops that bitter tannin more easily. It is far better than the other brand being sold by Amazon, which comes only in a 16-oz size that we totally wasted $$$ on, because that tea tasted spoiled - a first in our 60 yrs of tea drinking. This one is good, but not as flavorful or complex as the Peet's brand.

I love this tea and I will buy it again...and againโฆ And again
Some would like this tea and some won't. Well, I'm in the I love this Tea category. If you are used to drinking strictly American black tea, this is not American black tea. I would call this a smokehouse tea. Literally smoked meat. With that said it's different. I love this different aspect. Some people hate green tea because it can have an earthy aftertaste. But that's just part of the differences in various teas. This tea is different โ think smoked meat baby. ๐ I bought half a pound, and when I get down to a quarter of a pound I will be ordering more. I am in Avid tea drinker and I like the variety that the World Of teas has to offer. This is not your American Lipton tea. This is Russian caravan. ๐

Russian tea!
Good Russian tea. I've had many different brands of this tea and this is up there not my favorite but for the price it's pretty good. Makes for a great cup of tea especially when you add some strawberry jam.

This has become my favorite tea
My order of Russian Caravan tea was prompt. It has become my favorite tea. In fact, I just now finished a cup of it (a mug, not a little teacup), hot, with a teaspoon of sugar. My wife doesn't like the smell or the strong taste, but I do. The "smoky" aroma and bold flavor make this tea stand out from the rest. I also have some pure lapsong souchang tea, which is a component of Russian Caravan, but the pure stuff is much stronger, and it reminds me of creosote in smell and taste. Russian Caravan is much better.

My first foray into the realm of the Russian Caravan Tea and I say, this is some good brew!
Good tea. Could be a little more extreme for my liking and it would be great tea. Let it steep for 10 minutes and you have an excellent beverage. 1 star off for insufficient smoke intensity and aroma. I will buy again.

Disgusting
Tea smells like greasy sausage. Husband says it tastes very bitter. Couldn't bring myself to try it due to the smell. Not bothering returning, just straight into the garbage.

Needs to be blended with other teas
Very smoky flavor. I saw some reviews that compared it to Peet's Russian Caravan, but I found this much smokier than the tea that Peet's used to sell. I found it too smoky to drink by itself. I've been mixing with other teas to create my own blend.

First rate product and service
Service was extremely fast and efficient, and the tea was exactly what I was looking for. I first had a taste of this in a teahouse in Boulder, and this is exactly what I remembered. Also, this is literally half the price than ordering it from the other location.
