One of the best Edc knife designs on the market pair with one of the next steels.
What can I say? Spyderco and k390 equals a match made in high performance pocket knife heaven. The spyderco seki city japan plant really has the heat treatment for bohler k390 dialed in extremely well. The endela, endura, delica are three of the very best Edc knife designs of all time and pairing them with well heat treated k390 that's ran 65-66rc and what you end up with is a very fairly priced Edc knife that just oozes cutting performance and sharpening the stuff is pure bliss to sharpening geeks like my self. It's crazy when for around 130 bucks you can get An excellent Edc knife model in one of the highest performance steels in the Edc production knife market. The edge retention of k390 is way up there, and in the production knife market there are only a handful of steels that will hold an edge longer but they will also be a lot less Tuff than k390, that's where it really shines is in high volume of hard carbides with a hard steel matrix in the 66rc range from spyderco and still maintaining s35vn levels of toughness k390 and Spydercos heat treatment protocol really is a thing of beauty and this stuff sharpens so nicely and comes up so crazy sticky sharp and what's so great about it is it's a steel that does great with pretty much any edge finish (not something many steels can say is they will do great at anywhere between extremely course super toothy edges all the way to full mirror polished edges and all in between) from super aggressive low grit finishes all the way up to extremely high grit mirror polished edges and the steel will perform great. Even with a full bright mirror polish k390 still maintains a great deal of bite. The steel has extremely long edge retention and it also strops back very nicely. It's one of the very best high carbide high hardness tool steels in the knife world and is considered by a great many people to be their favorite steel and for good reason. It along with cpm 10v hold the spots as my number 1 and 2 steel I do like 10v just a little better because I prefer the edge profile it takes when leaving very aggressive lower grit edges, at 400 grit the edge 10v takes is absolutely gnarly aggressive but k390 is right there a close second. If your looking for an ultra high performance Edc knife for not a ton of money this is the knife you want. One of the best work knife designs on the market and one of the best work knife ultra high edge retention steels on the market and all for around 130 bucks in a super ergonomic and light weight package... What more can you ask for?? Just click buy and thank me later.

Old school..with new steel
Love the lock back..very strong..but with this size of blade..an if your used to the spidi flick..umm..look this isn't some fidget toy..but..this is a real user knife..large blade..good size handel..it just fits..like others have said the goldilocks..with the super steel of k390..not small and not too big..great edc size an weight..with out ever feeling like your compromising comfort or performance..it's thin profile but yet k390 steel has such high edge retention..yet easy to work with..it's tough..last but not least..takes a great patina lol..my opinion. Size ,weight, steel..in many applications..great edc knife !..and not this one but another k390 spiderco I have I forced patina..an yet to see any signs of rust...2 month up date..will rust even with patina..but some white vinegar an a scrub comes off no problem..no problem with the spidi flick now! Very smooth..still loving this knife..the edge retention is very impressive! K390 really is a beast of a steel. Top notch an impressive.. a thousand + cuts with cardboard, all kinds of food prep..some stuff I really shouldn't have done, but just wanted to show it off..still cuts like a dream.

A wonderful knife
I can’t give it a long review, because I just got it about 30 minutes ago. But I looked it over, blade centered, tight fit. I was still able to flick it open, and sliced through some paper. It caught a little on some parts of the blade, but i expected that to happen, so I put a razor edge on it in about 20 minutes. I read some reviews that said it takes a really long time to sharpen this steel, it takes some time to completely get the factory edge off, and shape the edge. But all knives are somewhat like that. I think most people don’t spend enough time with a 320 grit stone at first, then waste there time, with higher grit stones. I use the cerox thick 320 to shape and remove steel. Best fifty dollars I have ever spent on stones, I could slice through paper after just using that stone. Then used a 600 grid chosera, and could shave hair. That’s all you need for a good working edge. But I wanted to see if this steel will hold a nice polished edge, so I put about 20 strokes with the following stones, cerax 1000, chosera 3000, suehiro rica 5000, kitayama 8000, then stroped it with 0.5 diaspray. Now it’s razor sharp. This is for beginners, when your shaping and removing medal your not trying to sharpen your blade so go back and forth fairly fast, do about 40 strokes before you inspect your work. If you do it right, you barely have use your expensive higher grit stones, and that will save you money in the long run, and save time, and work. I would also recommend buying a 600 grit stone, these lower grit stones are more important than the higher grit stones.

Haven't sharpened it yet
The good news: it's a bigger Delica. More good news: it's not unwieldy like the Endura. the FRN is flawless, and the K390 has impressed me with it's ability to cut and keep cutting and not really dull. It's still catching my fingernail after going through a decent amount of blackberry on the trail. Patina? Yes, it's grayed out over time, doesn't seem too bad. Dope blue handle color. Build quality is very solid, if this isn't a hard use knife, it's gotta be pretty close. Centering is not perfect, mine leans toward the thumb (non clip) side about 15%, but not enough to send back or worry about unduly. The blade shape is noticeably more drop-pointy than the Delica at the tip, less stabby but stronger. Again, the knife's best role appears to be that of a work-horse.
