Great fun - but not as well built as the original
I bought this for my 4 year old son's birthday. I remembered playing it as a kid and LOVING the game. I will say that the construction is not as good as I remember it and sometimes the poor hippos get stuck with their mouths open, but it is just as much fun as I remember. I gave it 5 stars because when I asked my son what his favorite present was (and he got some fun toys), he said "Hungry Hungry Hippos!"

The perfect game for young children
Bought this for my grandson. I went through the game when it arrived. I had no problems putting it together, playing with it and also putting it away, so it would fit back into the box. I did not have any problems putting the hippos onto the game board and it fit snuggly and there were no loose areas when we began to play with the game. Everything snaps off easily and it fits in the box after putting it away.. I do recommend this game for young children there are many different ways to play the game if you have very young children, and everyone is excited and happy to play . Well worth it

This is a very fun game to play with your family
The media could not be loaded. This is a very fun game to play with your family. Hungry hungry hippos is a classic that is fun for almost all ages. Our son is 2 and we play with him often. He's been playing this game for about 1 month now and is still loving it. We think it's OK since he isn't mouthy with his toys but we warn you to be careful since the balls are very small and they feel like they can potentially cause choking.Hungry Hungry Hippos is something we both grew up playing so to come back to it was exciting. However the quality has degraded from the sets we were used to. The plastic feels cheap and the parts are flimsy. This doesn't necessarily take away from the game but it holds up the experience. It is a fun game to play with children and toddlers as long as it I supervised. Growing up this was one of my personal favorite games, always brought laughs and good family memories. It seems to be doing the same for my son. The game itself is not as well made as I remember but has not broke after months of use.I recommend this game for kids just learning how to play interactive games. It does not have a lot of rules and is easy to learn

adult assembly required every time
Definitely a kid favorite game--My children (ages 7 and 5) like to bring this game out every once in a while for a few days. Here are two things I did not know about this game. First, the white marbles from this game are smaller and lighter that regular marbles. If you lose them you can not replace the lighter white marbles with regular marbles.Second, you have to completely take apart the game to store it back in the original box. The hippo heads snap off ,as well as, the hippo bodies from the game base. You even have to press the hippo neck extension lever down and lock it in place or it won't fit back in the box.I assumed little ones could just pull this game out of the box and play and it wouldn't matter if a marble was misplaced.

Everyone loves a classic!
I purchased this toy for my best friends sons 3rd birthday. Normally this kid is obsessed with transformers and little toy cars. He got a million different toys at his party, but this game was the one he played with. Him and all the other kids just played this game, and apparently he kept playing til 10pm that night. I forgot how loud the game was, but it's still just as simple and entertaining as when I was a kid and playing with this 20 years ago. This just goes to show that a true classic never gets old. How can you not love Hungry Hungry Hippos?

Doesn't work right and missing pieces.
When this item arrived, a great deal of assembly was required. I had to put the hippos together, attach them to the main game board, release the tails to make the heads work, and apply decales. It was not simple and some of the hippos do not work well and the marbles (plastic) get stuck in their heads and do not go into the tray to be counted. The marbles only come out when the board is turned over and is moved around. We received two less marbles than were needed to play with 4 players. The game will not fit back into the box unless it is disassembled. Plus the quality of the parts is lousy and so poorly made that the board is not level even on a hard surface, which means that the game is not really fair. I bought this for our grandson. I had the same game for our children. The difference in quality between the same game that we had 30 years ago and this game that we just purchased is astounding. Of course this is true of all our new purchases of toys that we had owned years ago.

Hungry Hungry Hippos -
This toy is ok I think - not a lot too it and very noisy once the kids get going, but it is huge fun. Now it has to be hidden from the 15 month old sister as she likes to put the little while balls into her mouth -
