Enjoyable installment in clean cozy series
I have read and enjoyed all of the prior books in Margaret Grace’s charming “Miniature” mystery series, and “Manhattan in Miniature” is no exception. Gerry Porter and her granddaughter Maddie get the chance to travel to New York City right before Christmas to assist Gerry’s friend Bebe at a huge craft fair. Gerry’s friend Cynthia is thrilled Gerry will be in New York because she needs Gerry’s help investigating her Aunt Elsie’s suspicious death.I love this series and really enjoy the friendship between Gerry and her granddaughter Maddie. Maddie is a tween that usually manages to be cute and precocious without being obnoxious. I think she is at her best in this book. She is growing up and is a huge help to Gerry as she tries to balance her obligations to Bebe with her determination to help Cynthia. Cynthia is sometimes unreasonable in what she expects of Gerry, but other than that, I really enjoyed the book. It’s wonderful seeing New York at Christmastime through Maddie’s eyes and the case of Aunt Elsie’s death kept my interested from the very beginning. I enjoyed my time with Gerry and her friends and family and can't wait for the next installment! It’s not necessary to have read the other books in this series to enjoy this clean cozy. Fans of this series and this author (who also writes mysteries under the names Camille Minichino and Ada Madison) will enjoy Gerry and Maddie’s newest adventure.

NY at Christmas time and a mystery to solve with a young sleuth
This is the 8th book in the Miniature Mystery series, and like the others, it is beautifully written, full of colorful atmosphere, and centered around retired English teacher, Gerry Porter, and her precocious 11-year-old grand daughter, Maddie. Their usual home is Lincoln Point, CA, but for this installment, they visit New York City, and the mystery unfolds there. I would recommend this series highly to readers who are interested in miniatures or crafting in general, and to readers who especially enjoy a plot in which family and relationships are of prime importance. For me, it's the fine writing and the interesting detail about miniatures that keeps me coming back to this particular series.I am even more enthusiastic about the author's other two series--the Mathematical Mysteries (written as Ada Madison) and the older one, the Periodic Table Mysteries (written under her own name, Camille Minichino). For my taste, there is more development and change in the characters in the latter two series. Nevertheless, Manhattan in Miniature is a fine contribution to this series, and I highly recommend the other two series as well.

I enjoy reading Margaret Grace's book
Being a miniaturist myself, I enjoy reading Margaret Grace's book. They are easy reads and her mysteries add the nice addition to Gerry, the main character's life. I've read all the miniature series and this is one of my favorites so far.
