These are great firelighters.They have the consistency of very thick hardboard. They burn slowly but constantly.I use a flame torch to get them going as that really gets them fully alight quickly.Once lit, they stay alight well, and they soon had my barbecue charcoal burning nicely.They do have a bit of a whiff out of the packet, (reminds me of a rabbit hutch) but that immediately burns away and doesn't transfer to the food.I use 5 at a time, so 96 is going to last me a good few years.A good ecologically sound way to get your barbecue going, they work really well and represent great value for money.RecommendedI hope you found this review helpful.

These are really good for our log burner, I just tear off 3 cubes to get ours going. They don’t ignite as aggressively as the chemical ones but with these you wont get that awful smell on your hands! It’s easier to light them on their rough/torn edges and once lit they’re fine. It’s nice that more of these eco friendly lighters are available. They’re made from natural materials so if you use them on the BBQ they won’t affect the taste. 100% recommend :-)

Some years back we were introduced to the barbecue charcoal lighting towers. Plenty on Amazon with the idea being that you fill the metal tube with charcoal, place a screwed up newspaper underneath and light it. We were amazed to find it worked and is without doubt the best way we have found of getting a quick hot barbecue. The only snag being we only have the free local paper to play with.We then tried these cubes which work even better. They look like a small lump of cardboard or rough MDF board and when you light one it has a flame which is not much bigger than a candle. Put the barbecue tube on top and you have good hot coals in about 10 minutes. Absolute magic and a million times better than trying to light a barbecue with barbecue lighting fluid, blow lamp or, I hate to mention it, petrol. And these are a lot cheaper than the ones from the well known barbecue maker.

I'm used to getting smelly fingers from your normal, everyday firelighters, but these leave no odour whatsoever.Initially I was a little bit sceptical of their effectiveness, but quickly discovered that they work brilliantly. They light easily and there's no smoke either! Basically, they do what it says on the tin (box actually 😏). As an added bonus, there's not a scrap of plastic packaging in sight!They are a little on the expensive side when compared to your normal firelighters, so I'm hoping that the price might fall as their usage increases. So, come on folks, give 'em a go!

These eco friendly firelighters are fantastic. I have just ordered my second box for winter supplies and shall continue to use these from now on. They are very good at lighting the fire, burn for such a long time if the kindling is a little damp and I think they are fantastic. I use two to get it going quicker but they are small so size wise two are probably still smaller than one typical sized non eco friendly one. Apart from actually being environmentally friendlier compared to the standard chemical infused typical firelighters which I’ve used before they are actually much better firelighters. Love them!

These light our smokeless eggs and anthracite mix in our open fire in about fifteen minutes from ignition to warmth, without use of kindling and paper now that the temperatures are a little higher, making them very economical.We tried placing 3 cubes at first on top of the cinders in the centre and lighting them, when they got going we placed the fuel around and over them. We use that system now, we can just put the guard up and leave them to it.They do smell a bit odd when you open the box but that is all, nothing on hands or from the fire.With no chemicals they are much safer to store.What seemed pricey by comparison to conventional firelighters soon showed their worth, it cannot be cheap to produce them but we found a good overall saving after a lifetime of coal fires.My husband is looking forward to being able to light the barbecue and get on with other things when (IF) we get some warm weather in Scotland.I would definately say give them a try, just be patient.

For years we used those foul petrol/chemical smelling firestarters (Zip) and after accidentally touching his eye after using Zip and having to be treated for a burnt cornea - I went on a search for something, surely there was something better? YES! There is! It is these firelighters, absolutely without scent and made of just natural compacted wood shavings. No horrible petrol stench, no chemical burns! They light fast and burn furiously for a very good amount of time. Our fires light first time now, every time. NO SMELL !!! We put all our neighbours onto them and they love them too. DO BUY these from this seller, excellent and fast delivery and a top quality products.

Was a bit dubious when the box came and it was so small but 2 firelightesr used to light our chiminea and it work great so really good value for money, no horrible smells and easy to store, also good for the environment. Will be using these from now on.
