Great for the $$$
These knives have everything I look for in a steak knife: Attractive design, good weight balance, and most importantly...the ability to sharpen them (i.e. not serrated). These knives are made in China, not Germany, so don't expect these knives to perform like the $200+ Wusthofs, etc. For the money, though, these are some of the best out there. They have an exceptionally attractive design reminiscent of a Shun knife, and have a very well balanced feel in hands large or small. I have not had any issues with rusting because I do not put any of my knives in the dishwasher as most manufacturers do not recommend it, no matter what the price point of the knife. The best part about these knives is that they effortlessly cut through a piece of steak without ripping it to shreds like a serrated knife often does. Personally, I run these through my roll-sharp knife sharpener after every use to keep them performing at their best. I have not had one regret about this purchase, and the only thing that could improve the set is if they came with a block.Best,-Ben

Beautiful Peice
I love the Shun knives, and have a set for cooking. These look similar but at a fraction of the price. They are very sharp, and I have received several compliments on them.I've had them a couple months, and, hate to say it, but throw them in the dishwasher. At the price, it's not worth my time to hand wash. I'm going to buy another set or two, and keep them in the wings just in case the dishwasher is too unkind to the knives. But, so far after 6 months, they have held up well.Highly recommend. Buy now.....

What a bargain!
I was a bit hesitant about purchasing these because many reviewers said they didn't receive the product as advertised. Well, I got more than I paid for! My set says 'Ginsu Chikara Series' and 'Japanese Steel', although if you look closely on the other side, there's a tiny little word, 'China'. (seems like everything comes from China these days). However, these seem to be very well made; they are extremely sharp and the handle is not only comfortable and well balanced, it doesn't fall off the edge of your dinner plate like our other ones do (they were serrated French knives - I'll never buy serrated knives again. They won't cut butter now!) Time will tell how well these new knives will hold up. Right now we are very pleased with them.

Okay Knifes
Knifes are okay. They tend to rust very easily so make sure you hand wash and dry them very well. I have had them for about a month and they remain very sharp. Be careful with these knives (while cutting and while cleaning) and they should last a long time.

Really Nice For the Price. Sharpen Them And You Will Love Them.
These are comfortable knives. I am not sure what the steel is but it has a decent grain. I think the carbon content is pretty high. I would recommend hand washing these. They came with a common edge, I like my knives sharp so I sharpened all of these and they took a razor edge very easily. They might not stay sharp for years but with just a couple of minutes you will be able to make them cut like new. These will be used on plates and that dulls all knives, that is why I like knives that are easy to put an edge on. If the steel was harder and they did not have resin handles I would have gave them 5 stars. But lets be honest, if these were really high quality steel and made with even higher quality they would not be this price.

Great Value
I also own a Zwilling Pure 4 Piece Steak Knife Set and bought these so I would have 8 steak knives as I couldn't afford 8 of the zwilling. These are one of the few steak knives I've found that are forged(not stamped) and straight edged(not serrated) that are in an affordable price range. Comparing them to the german knives, these cut just as well and have just as high quality construction. The main difference I see is the zwilling knives are a much more silvery color and these knives are a dull gray. Maybe this means they will rust easier if not well cared for. I always hand wash, completely dry, and place the knives back into the block when done with them and have not had any significant staining. All in all, an excellent knife for a low price.

So disappointed
Love the look, love the price...but the knives are such a disappointment. As a serious cook, knives are important to my. Our former steak knives (german) were fine but not fancy. Purchased these for my husband at Christmas to dress up the table when we entertain. They were OK at first but they do not hold an edge, even when professionally sharpened. My other japanese knives are excellent...of course I take care of them....but these do not work for us: they cut filet mignon as if it were flank steak.

Cheap Chinese Knockoffs
They look good and cut well, but within weeks of owning them they began to rust- even with handwashing only. Rust resistant, my ass!The back of these knives say "CHINA" (the side they conveniently don't show you in the photo). I thought Ginsu was a Japanese company. I've had Ginsu knives in the past that lasted years upon years with no complains, so I thought I was getting the same high-quality product I've gotten before. I THOUGHT WRONG- these are cheap Chinese knockoffs. I'm going to try and send them back.I really wish companies would stop outsourcing to China. Enslaved Chinese children just don't know what quality is anymore. Just another reason to boycott their cheap crap. Buy American! ...Do we make anything?

Surprisingly sharp
I bought these for my mother for her birthday, and have since used them countless times for several steak dinners or prep work for dinners. They easily cut through cheese, vegetables, and meats. They are sharp and have a good amount of weight to them so that they feel nice in your hand. The price was more that fair, and they arrived quickly.

Unsharpened out of the box
These are pretty good for their value, I love that they’re flat edged so I can sharpen them by hand be serrated blades. I did notice that they weren’t very sharp out of the box so I wouldn’t recommend these unless you know how to sharpen your blades!

Not as shown
The steak knife model in the image has a steel bolster (the ring between the blade and handle) that is part of the blade and tang. The knives I received have a plastic bolster that is part of the handle. A newer model? They appear of lower quality, matching those at half the price. The plastic bolster seems fragile; it's the weakest point in the knife, and will split and break off before long, whereas the steel bolster shown in the image is the strongest part of the knife.
