FINIS Positive Drive Fins are lightweight, comfortable & you can do breaststrokes with them.
Review of the FINIS Positive Drive Fins (PDF) - Four Stroke Training Fins. I am a recreational swimmer. Iโve owned and used long and short fins, but the FINIS PDF is the shortest yet. Itโs also the oddest looking one. It looks like Iโm wearing a Frisbee on my feet. Iโve never seen anyone else using the FINIS PDF so it does attract stares from other swimmers. The primary reason that I purchased the FINIS PDF is that I finally decided to master the breaststroke. My breaststroke kick is horrendous and I get no forward motion from it. The FINIS PDF is supposed to be one of the only swim fins that you can use in the breaststroke. After using it for a month, my breaststroke kick with the FINIS PDF has improved, but it is still a work in progress. For this reason, I am happy with the purchase. I wear a shoes size US 8.5 which is a MEDIUM in almost every brand of swim fins. I decided to double check and ask Amazonโs โAsk Rufusโ which size I should order, and the answer surprised me - XL. I thought that was a mistake so I searched FINISโs website and found a size chart for the PDF. For my shoeโs size, US male 8.5 - 10, the FINIS PDF size is an XL. Some reviewers have complained that the FINIS PDF have caused foot pain and skin abrasions. From my experience, all swim fins can cause some foot cramps and pain, but that usually goes away. Skin abrasions are possible if the fins are not properly sized. So far, the FINIS PDF are the most comfortable swim fins that I have ever used. The FINIS PDF are light enough that they will float back to the surface of the water if you drop the fins or they fall off your feet. The are also light and small enough that I intend to pack them in my luggage on my next overseas beach / outdoor swim pool trip. Overall, I am very pleased with the FINIS PDF. They have become my primary swim fins.

Love these fins!
I cannot say how much I love these fins! They are hard to get on at first, do put them on in the water, but they are worth it. After breaking my ankle and arthritis setting in I had to take up swimming seriously as the only exercise I can do aerobically. (I watch YouTube tutorials for proper technique for more efficient swimming. ) I could never get the proper propulsion to exercise my legs. These fins not only help the foot to propel properly they give added weight, as I guess any fin would, to help exercise the legs. The compact size, comparatively speaking, and in the zipper bag, makes them easier to carry to the pool too. (I did not use these until about 18 months after the ankle break; I would not advise for that therapy.) I ordered by my shoe size, being a US womenโs 9 1/2B I ordered the size down as instructed. They are tight but not too long; if Iโd gotten bigger they might have been too long to be effective but will not fit a wide or puffy foot. As it is, they function perfectly. After the first use they are much easier to put on and the stretchy straps help there (I tap the โtoeโ against the pool wall to push them on) though still struggle to removeโthey have an odd suction effect like a snorkeling mask, kind of funny actually. But I love them, use them for about 40 minutes of my hour swim (for breast, back, and side strokes after a 20 minute crawl without them.) I keep them on for added resistance during the post swim stretch too doing ankle, leg, and hip circles. Highly recommend for new swimmers.

In-feakin'-credible for breast and side stroke kicks!!! THE ONE fin set to own!
UPDATE-Amazing feedback for optimal "slicing" position of feet. LOVE them as that side to side "flutter" went away after 3 weeks of use so that likely means that my "stabilizing muscles" that hadn't been activated got activated and adapted/grew. I now would like to assert that these aren't "specialty" fins but are the only fins one needs for competitive swim training. WOW! works VASTLY better than hoped for breast stroke and side stroke (I am an old school Lifeguard; and will always keep up my side stroke performance) kicks!!! TRULY optimized for these kicks. On scissors kick, I did notice a side to side "flutter" or "shudder", not performance robbing; and I actually believe that ones tiny leg "stabilizing" muscles will get developed to counter act this motion. So, SUPER for breast stroke kick; and good, but not optimized for, scissors kick. I wear a 13 shoe and the XLs are a perfect fit!

Be careful of blisters
I wore them today while swimming for an hour. I felt some pressure points in certain areas at first. I took them off, readjusted, and didn't feel any more rubbing. The fins didn't feel too big or cumbersome, but it was a little hard to tell compared to the other kinds of fins. They are heavier than the silicone brand of flippers, that's for sure, but not too heavy, surprisedly. Easy to slip on and off in water and on dry ground. Plus, they are comfortable. I love being able to move my ankle freely. On the performance aspect of the fins. It's hard to describe how the fins adjusted my body for the correct posture. I tried to give in to it and just go with it. My body was resisting, unsure how to kick with these new sets of fins. After the first five laps, it felt great doing the crawl. My kick felt stronger and more efficient. During the backstroke, it was way more easier, and less energy was being expelled. I did a few kick sessions, and the dolphin kick was cumbersome but still needs some practice. The one kick I had some trouble with that couldn't be corrected this session was the breaststroke kick. It's like my body forgot how to do it with the fins. But I'll definitely get it next session. I'll wear my swim socks with them to prevent any more blisters. They fit right over them. My shoe size is 9.5 women, and I bought XL as instructed and suggested by others.

They work well for breaststroke
They work well for breaststroke. I wish they were silicone and had a different kind of strap. This rubber rubs the top of my foot and toes slightly and not in a good way. They also need to be adjusted a lot because the knots will come loose. I can easily kick them off if I'm not thinking about it. Not the most comfortable for me, but they work. I swim with the Master's swim team.

Amazing for Swim Lessons!
I run a swim school in Las Vegas. Our curriculum requires fins and I wasn't too happy with what we had. So after doing my research, watching videos, and reading reviews, I decided to try out the PDF's! I bought one Medium sized one at first. I put them on one girl who I was having trouble with her breaststroke kick (she would always lead with her knees like a frog kick), and after 50 meters, she was doing them perfectly! Another kid was working on flutter kicks, and they were able to get their legs long and beautiful! While these are not a replacement for proper instruction, they are a great way to teach the children how to FEEL the correct propulsion. Also, while the Medium size is made for size 3.5 to 7 in womens, we had a child wearing them who was a size 2 and an adult woman who was a size 9 wearing them (albeit a bit tight, but still comfortable). In fact, the adult promptly returned her new fins and has now bought a pair herself! Most of the bad reviews on here are for people who have tried to use these as work-out fins. I can definitely see how they would not be great for building strength nor long distances. For me, they are a great teaching aid, especially when a child (or adult) has trouble grasping a complicated kick such as the whip kick!

Easy to get along with
These work well and are easy to get along with. An aid to swim training, and a boost when swiming in the ocean. I also bought longer fins, but they were hard work over distance and less easy to use.

Not designed for propulsion but more for proper motion
My shoe sizes are about 11-12 US, so I had to get the largest Positive Drive Fins, which fit perfectly. The rear ankle strap is soft and comfortable to use for an entire swim session. I don't even have to wear socks to prevent chaffing. The idea behind these fins is that they're not designed to provide extra propulsion. They are intended to correct your feet position and allow for proper motion in the water. I'm a runner and cyclist, and only started swimming last year at over the age of 30 - so I have a lot of things going against me when I'm in the water. It took me awhile to finally get the hang of swimming, but my feet are constantly dragging me and my kicks have zero propulsion when using a kickboard. With these fins, I can use a kickboard and move at a decent pace - not as fast as a larger fin but moving (versus not moving, or going backwards with bare feet). I can feel the fins tugging at my ankles and my feet kind of point inwards like all of the photos and tutorials for swimming. I feel it will take some time to use these fins to correct my feet/ankles, but at least I can see and feel the difference.

Fantastiche
Vorrei avere comprato le pinne Finis Positive Drive e le Finis Paddles prima! Fantastiche.

Iโve been using these x 5 days a week and they are fantastic. They do not give you as much speed as normal fins but they help by making you do the kick properly. Can be used for all strokes, even breaststroke. I love them they make my swim fun and has corrected my imperfections.
