Be Careful Who You Trust
A good read for me. The author developed the characters for us to picture in our mind. I knew there was evil lurking within the walls of the hospital , but unraveling the story slowly to the end was great !

interesting mystery
Iβm in the medical field and enjoyed some insights into anesthesia. However I thought the end was too dramatic. I also think a key missing factor from the end is the code blue button that would draw a ton of staff to the room immediately. I also wonder if a medicine would break down in the human body quickly why wouldnβt a pot of coffee break it down. Overall next book looks very interesting

Awesome! Fantastic! Chills, thrills and a great read!
Confession, I have medical background and I found this book to be superb. .I am so impressed with this book that I can't even begin to write how I feel properly. Oh goodness! I forgot to check and see if this is the only thing he has written. Well, if it is dear author, please write another book and make it medical! This book is very well written, it flows smoothly, is easy to understand, and you will be on the edge of your seat from page one to the end. I know I was. The author has rightly written on how lonely the wives of doctors can be. Theirs is not an easy life. You have to sort of be bred to specifically be a doctors wife. The characters are very well written, described and explained. If you have medical background, you can relate to many of these characters.Patients start dying unexpectedly in the OR of Mercy Hospital. Anesthesiologist Doug Landry finds himself being focused on for blame. He starts to doubt himself. Is he really incompetent or is there something evil going on? Doug struggles to clear his name and and figure out the secret of the mysterious deaths. It soon becomes clear that someone will stop at nothing to keep him from discovering the truth. Soon, he becomes trapped in a race against time to prevent more deaths, even his own.I really recommend this book highly. I usually let Kindle read it aloud to me, but with this book, since I read faster, I read about 75% of it myself. I just was to psyched about this story to take my time.I would recommend this book for ages 18 on up, for 2 reasons. There definitely are some murders in the story, and I would also not want to get younger kids afraid to be in the hospital. There are no descriptive sex scenes in this story. There is two scene when you know the doctor is taking sexual advantage of this girl. One he is successful but it is not described. The other she stops him. There are some cuss words also.Don't miss out on this great story folks.

A really good book. Enjoyed the main characters.
I enjoyed the characters and how they interacted with each other. I really like medical suspense stories and this book was a page-turner. I didn't want to put it down till I finished. I would have given it a 5 if all the hype about a surprise ending with lots of twists and turns in the plot had actually been in the story. I was a little disappointed and I really didnt think the plot was all that facinating. I knew who the bad guys were pretty much from the beginning of the book. As for justification for their criminal actions; money and power, like in most books, were part of the reason. I think I was hoping for something that would "Grab ya" and really make it suspenseful but it just never quite reached the mark for me. The book started out with a great story line but by the end, for me anyway, it just fell a little flat.I did enjoy the story alot, felt it was better than a 3, almost a 4, definitely not a 5 *. I believe John Benedict is a new writer, so I look forward to future novels that grow with him as a writer. I have no doubt that he can become a 5* writer. You can see how talented he is and he'll only get better!

Fast paced and keeps you on edge
The characters from a hospital setting are fully developed and easy to relate to, especially the main character, Dr. Landry, an anesthesiologist. Descriptive and informative about anesthesiology work, it also establishes an increasing sense of dread and fear about insane men working in collaboration within the hospital setting. Fast paced and an easy read, it has a very exciting and satisfying conclusion.

Death had been cheated that day...He had sensed the presence of the creature and could've sworn it whispered..."I'll be back."
Real intense book start to finish given passages like this "One minute you're having a casual conversation with a living, breathing, laughing, for God's sakes, human being and the next you're pumping on his chest. He becomes subhuman before your eyes as his face turns all purple and mottled." Gave me the chills thinking someone could go around a hospital sabotaging the machinery (which might not be too far-fetched). While the first half of the book reads like a medical thriller that someone of Robin Cook's stature might have written, book slips some in the back half given some incredulous moments (hence the 4-star rating) but still PLENTY of action to carry it forward to it's climatic conclusion. Some language noted for those that do not enjoy cursing, but still a very good book such that I wouldn't mind grabbing the sequel sometime down the road.

Scary!
9/10Another incredible medical thriller from John Benedict. Plenty of medical jargon, as you would expect, but easy to follow. A well paced fascinating nightmare of a story, well plotted and chilling to the core. It's put me off having any kind of medical procedure....well at this hospital! Great storytelling.

Superb
A truly amazing medical thriller. Dr John benedict is An exceptional writer. As an anesthesiologist, he not only knows the subject intimately, but has that very rare talent as a writer to give enough details that non medical people (like me) can fully enjoy the book. This book also shows the real pressure faced by medical staff, possible drug misuse, extra marital romance is tempting, takeovers where some are reluctant to give up their positions. The characters are very believable and you feel very involved in their lives and problems. I would give this more stars if I could

Medical murder mystery
I was quite a way into the book and still wondering when a crime would be committed, or indeed, if I had purchased a medical drama by mistake. However, once they start this becomes a rather sinister and frightening story not just because of the crimes but because we are given such a horrific insight into what actually happens to each and every one of us that undergoes anaesthesia for medical intervention, that on it's own will make me think twice about being operated on ever again. The reader gets to know and form opinions about a number of characters as they are so well drawn but I felt the conclusion was a bit rushed and just a bit too convenient.

Medical thriller
I liked this medical crime thriller. The author is a practising anesthesiologist. The setting is a hospital anesthesia department where there are unexpected incidents (including deaths) in the operating room during fairly routine surgery. Is it bad luck or is there something more sinister going on. The focus of blame is on Dr Doug Landry. As he investigates to try and clear his name his discoveries put his life at risk. It's a well written, well paced book - perhaps slightly over the top as it reaches the climax - however it's quite an exciting read!

Great book great characters
I don't usually read books of the medical genre but this one was so good..had great explanations of the medical side but not so much as to baffle me or bore me. The sinister goings on were exciting and the characters came alive too. I have already passed it on to my friends and have no hesitation in recommending it .
