SKS GERMANY XX-Long Fender Spoiler - 45mm

Fits well, a bit heavy and expensive
These mudguard flaps help keep water and mud off of your bike by making the fender/mudguard a little bit longer and covering more of the tire as water and mud fly up off of it.A fender can only be made so long before it may interfere with the ground. A rubber flexible extension like this can take contact with the ground with stride and not cause the fender to bend, break, or become misaligned with the wheel.Installation is simple, requiring a single hole to be drilled after slipping the mudflap onto the trailing end of the fender and a plastic push-rivet is inserted through the hole to secure it. There is a washer for the far side of the rivet and after the push-pin is pressed into the body of the rivet the wings of the plastic rivet expand and grip the washer on the far side.Using a single mudflap on the front wheel helps considerably to keep water and road grime/mud from collecting on your downtube, bottom bracket, and the exposed derailleur cables that are often routed through this area. It also is wide enough to keep road spray off of your feet as you pedal which most fenders do a poor job of protecting.Putting a second one of these on the rear fender does little for the rider or the bike but other cyclists behind you will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Most fenders are not long enough in the rear to help keep most of your road spray off of riders behind you in a pace line. The only downsides of this product is it seems a bit heavier than it needs to be, and the price is pretty high for a piece of rubber and a plastic rivet with washer. One really needs to buy two. These should really come included with the SKS fenders as the fenders alone do a poor job without them.A good and necessary product but very expensive for what they are -the fender should come with them instead of clipping the buyer with another expense to purchase them separately.

Attachment hardware provided is substandard, reuse original rivet
Thanks to the previous reviewers who mentioned the plastic screw that was delivered with the mud flap (spoiler). See in the photo, the plastic screw that comes with the flap. I'll comment on how to use it later.Because of the warning, I saved the expansion pin rivet that was original. All you need to do is push out the pin from the tire side and then extract the rivet to reuse. It is a much better fastener. If I had to use the provided plastic screw and nut, I'd seriously consider gluing the two together, or finding a hardware store replacement. I would hate to loose a new flap due to a failed attachment system. Too bad the rivets in the original product picture were not provided. Again, see photo for plastic screw and nut that were provided.

Nice addition to sks chromoplastic fenders
I bought these because following my first ride in the rain after installing new fenders, my feet were very wet and I noticed that once everything had dried out, there was a lot of dry mud around the area of my bottom bracket, front der., and the down tube just forward of the BB. I didn't like that. So I added this on to give my BB and front der. some extra protection from mud splashing up off the front tire. It works great. Now after riding in the rain, there is very little mud anywhere on the "undercarriage" of my bike and my shoes are only wet from whatever rain falls directly on them, not from water streaming off my tire and onto my feet.

GREAT fender extension!
I used this on a 'Topeak' XC-1 front fender, (since there is a gap in it that I have no explanation for) and it works GREAT! I wanted to try it without this extension, ( just to see if It was a good idea to get it,) and got mud and water in my face. (Not surprisingly) Adding this stopped that right away! I am very happy with this addition, and will wholeheartedly recommend it for ANYONE with a 'Topeak' XC-1 front fender (even though it's advertised for 'SKS')

Does the job
I'm not sure why they include those cheap plastic clips to secure this to a fender, but if you drill out the hole a bit and use a nut/bolt with a small washer, this is an awesome extension. I picked up the Topeak DeFender mountain bike fenders and this closed a gap in those that made them perfect. Somehow this fit perfectly which was a really nice surprise. Well made, is holding up as expected.

Mudflap itself seems fine, but attachment hardware is flimsy
The mudflap I received didn't have the attachment hardware pictured (rivet and washer [correction made]), and instead has two little tabs that barely fit together and don't attach the mudflap securely. I was surprised because I was replacing a longer SKS mudflap, and that one had a very secure attachment mechanism that was hard to remove. For this spoiler mudflap, the tabs would just pop off if I flipped up the flap. This isn't good since part of the reason I got this replacement mudflap was because I know it will sometimes hit when I go down a bump. So, the mudflap itself seems to be good quality and is made of a nice flexible rubber, but it's not worth much if it won't stay on your fender. I think it would be great if it actually came with the secure attachment rivet as pictured..

Easy to install, but no instructions
I had to guess at installation. I slipped it on, drilled a hole, put the plastic plug in and snipped off what I assumed was a small piece of plastic that made it easy to grip the plug when installing it. It seems there was a leftover metal washer once I was done, I don't know what that was for, it didn't seem to fit anywhere.Despite all that it went on easily and seems to be doing its job.

Simple to fit, quality mud flap
This is a perfect mud flap! Fit my 45 mm fenders with no problem. I drilled a small hole for the attachment hardware to fit it and it has worked all winter! No more rain and dirt on my bottom bracket, down tube or on my feet! Good stuff.

Neat
nice soft silicon type of material. Pity it isn't over long which you could trim to suit.

Useful addition
Good, useful addition to the front mudguard. Had to modify it as ordered wrong size, but for the price compared to other sellers quite happy to.

don't expect your customers to find alternatives fixing
Lost stars due to the screw provided doesn't work and have already lost one off them. Also reviews stated this, so please provide a decent fixing and don't expect your customers to find alternatives fixing

Easy to fit
Fitted to some 45mm mudguards to give a bit more protection from spray - Had to drill one hole in the mudguard - all fasteners supplied.
