Q: will this get already stained (washed in hot and dried) terry washcloths bright whaite again?

Not by just adding White Brite to the wash. I've never tried soaking the washcloths, but I have on baseball pants with ground in dirt and grass stains. White Brite works perfectly on the pants after soaking for as little as 30-60 minutes.

Q: Can this be used in cold water?

It have used hot, warm and cold water and it always works great for me on all clothes.

Q: Safe for colors or will it bleach them? My sons baseball

I can only respond for myself: I have soaked my son’s baseball jerseys (the “Dirty” brand) and the colors did not bleed. I have also soaked grey baseball pants that have a blue pin stripe and they did not bleed or harm the clothes in any way. I will admit that i held my breath each time I tried soaking something that wasn’t white. Bit it worked out great!
