Perfect for me.
First off let me say this is my first Dobro Steel Slide and I haven't been playing all that long. Since I am learning and probably will always be learning, it was essential to me to find at least a decent steel slide at the beginning of the journey. This one fits my hand. That is one of the big concerns in my opinion. It needs to be comfortable. And it is for me. But I understand that it might not be comfortable for everyone. The second concern is how easy it is to move around. I have had no problem with that at all. It lands where I put it and the sound is clear. There is one caution I would like to add. Don't drop it on a slate floor. It is heavy and STEEL. It didn't fall out of my hand. It got knocked off a desktop where I put it after practicing. It didn't even mar the finish on it. The slate floor however.....You won't know until you actually try it, if this is one of the ones for you.

Comfortable and easy to hold, but not as nice of a tone.
This is a really nice slide whose comfort makes it a pleasure to play with; however the tone is not quite as clear. Not sure why. Maybe I just feel like a solid steel bar sounds cleaner. Don't know.This bar is lighter with the wood handle. That makes it easier to grip and approach the strings. I use it when I'm trying to play softly (to avoid annoying the spouse). I also use this slide when I'm not playing the resonator guitar, which really amplifies the tonal qualities of the slide. On a regular acoustic guitar (or maybe an electric) the tonal difference isn't noticeable (to me).Also this slide is pretty expensive as far as a piece of metal and wood goes. I prefer a $12 Shubb stainless and chrome knock-off to anything else right now, so the $30 pricetag of this slide makes it sorta a luxury item.

QUALITY warm feeling slide! !
Just got this GS1 slide,instant LIKE! I'm playing Lap style, E slide tune on a OP2 Olympia guitar no nut extension,fretting&sliding.This slide becomes part of you due to the weight, warmth of the wood &secure feel of the top&side reliefs on the handle,it also causes the slide to balance/center exceptionally.Proof:set it on a flat surface,handle sets straight up! This thing is wherever you are on the strings with just the right feel! {A slight radius at one end of the bar might be nice?}

Cool design and great sound
I really like this slide - it's their new, solid stainless steel design. The sound is really different from chrome plate slides I've tried. However, I haven't tried their older, chrome plated brass design, so I can't compare it to that. However, I have used a Stevens slide quite a bit, and like this a lot in comparison. I prefer the tone somewhat more - less of some shrill overtones that I'd get, and I really like the semi bullet design. Also, the Stevens one always makes my hand cramp up. This one feels a bit thicker, and I don't seem to have that problem. My biggest negative on it is that Shubb has moved production of these to China with the all-stainless design. I understand why - working with stainless is MUCH more difficult, and to tool up to make them here would have been pricey, thus increasing the cost of the bars. However, it always saddens me to see a formerly American-made product now being made in China. There are a handful of other makers who do make stainless bars here in the US; however, those tend to be a fair bit more expensive. And there are other makers who make stainless bars that are about in the same price range, but I'm not sure where they're made. Don't get me wrong - the workmanship on these are flawless. Really nicely done. If you don't mind Chinese made, it'd be hard to go wrong with one of these.

Your Dobro playing will be greatly enhanced.
This steel slide is a wonderful evolution of the original slides most guitar player's use. As one who has only played for a year with the Stevens and round bar slides, I found that my slide hand became cramped and/or the steel slides would slip out of position from sweaty hands. I even notice professional slide players constantly repositioning their old slides when they play. This Shubb GS-10 fits nicely and I can play for hours without cramping or slipping. It has a nice feel and the wood gives me a firm grip even if my hand is a little damp. Being in the early stages, my confidence and accuracy with this slide has helped me progress with the instrument, giving me more overall enjoyment and skill. Sometimes it takes a simple solution to make a lot of difference.

Great product
I had the older SP-2 that was chrome plated brass and I liked it a lot - good weight and having one rounded tip is really helpful if you want to play pretty melodies that require pull-offs. Eventually the part of the slide that touches the strings got scratched to the point that I could feel it slightly when I was playing, which just felt bad. So I bought the new one.Now I've been playing the stainless version for a year or so and I like it just as much...maybe more. It feels great, sounds great and is very versatile.

Excellent slide
SP2 stainless steel slide is excellent. It fits the hand the way it is supposed to, has good weight, and produces a very good tone. The two different ends of the slide make playing easier. The sharp end (squared off) is excellent for pull offs , while the rounded end is perfect for moving across the strings without pulling the bar off. This makes going from say a barred C chord (barred across all six strings) to a C chord with the 1st and 2nd strings open very easy. Overall an excellent slide.

Nice slide
I use two different slides for my dobro: this one, and a longer one, depending on what song I am playing. Each has its advantages. As far as this one goes, I am VERY happy with it. It will be a part of my dobro playing for many years to come.
