Well made and works to slow boat drift.
Much better quality than last cheap one I owned. Bit harder to deploy but works better to slow boat and stays open without twisting lines.I like the flotation sewn into the top of the bag and the bouy float on the tow line.Could use a heavier trip line than the thin cord included.Overall very impressed with the quality and hopefully will last longer than the 10 years I got out of the prior cheap one.

Good for a 14' jonboat
This is a very basic drift sock. I bought the 24" version for my 14' jonboat. I wouldn't recommend anything smaller. Works well, the only recommendations I would have is a drawstring at the exit end of the sock to add adjustability and I also zip tied a piece of foam pipe wrap around one of the sock straps, to keep it from sinking when not in motion. This also stops it from twisting. Some higher priced socks have a small flotation foam piece embedded in the sock.

Sizing for Catfish Guys Drifting
So I have zero complaints about the quality of this stock, and to be honest, you're not going to find a better deal.I wanted to share my results to help others. I bought the 54“ to use for drifting. Wind was around 8 to 10MPH. My boat is an 18ft CC, 2200lbs loaded, and has a T Top. A single sock slowed my drift to 1.3 to .9 mph. I prefer to drift around .4 to .2mph.I'll be buying a second and still come out at a third of the price for a custom sock. Unless you're in a low pro boat like a jon I'd advise picking up two. You can always just toss one if you don't need both.

These get the job done.
Perfect for my 16 1/2 foot boat. Boat handling is improved and will slow you down for a controlled drift.

Good To Go
Best purchase I’ve made in a while..... I like that this sock is stiff and has some weight to it, so I can throw it off the back of the boat and more or less forget about it. It starts sinking and filling pretty much immediately and is easy to retrieve via the dump line. For my purposes, I use an 8’ rope with snap links on each end and a loop tied in the middle of the rope. I attach the snap links to the transom eyes on the boat then attach the drift sock harness to the loop on the rope via another snap link. This allows me to keep the sock clear of the motor and centered on the back of the boat.In winds of 15-20 mph, my 16’ fiberglass center console maintains a perfect .4-.6 mph drift speed with a single 54” sock.

Field Test Results are Positive
I have a 26 foot Sea Ray and I was looking for a both a drift anchor and a trolling brake for lake fishing. I ordered a 30 inch model which is less than recommended because I am an engineer and I just couldn't see how the manufacturer's recommended anchor was needed (much larger). When I received the package it said in red letters "not to be used as a trolling brake." But the fish were calling and there is nothing like a field test. Short answer is that is worked fine as a trolling brake. Trolled for hours and it reduced the speed from 3.5-3.7 mph to 2.8. I tied it off to a cleat on the port side and the force exerted on the rope was not extreme. The boat tracked straight ahead. I used some existing rope and a float to hook it up instead of buying the custom rig offered by the manufacturer. While trolling the rope was not stretched tight but had some give to it. The sock/brake was easy to retrieve and folded up into a nice compact package for restowing. In short, I am very happy with the product both as a trolling brake and as a drift anchor and I recommend it.

Needs a external strap to pull to empty bag.
Works great. Opens quickly. Needs a strap attached to top and bottom of bag to help empty the bag. Recommend buying float accessory as bag will sink at slower drift speeds.

Works how I hoped it would
I throw it out the bow or stern to slow my drift on windy days. You can also tie it on the centre bow cleat to back troll with more control, but I have found that this sock is so big that it can be hard to turn.I lost my first sock (because I forgot to retie a cleat hitch) and have since replaced it, and have also purchased a MinnKota float line that I can attach to it. That way I will be able to find the sock if it comes detached, or I can purposely detach if I get lucky and have to fight a big fish.

the 30 is better then 24
Its a great sock , made well . i have 14 foot boat with 15hp 4 stroke and by luck ordered the 30 instead of the recommended 24 and glad i did. I recommend go 30 on your first choice ! i can just raise trolling idle a smidgen above its idle to get a 2mph troll cruise for diving crank baits. you wont need dump cord ! Its easy to pull in and empty as it, I used orange pool noodles for line floats . perfect! Will it spook fish pulling as a sea break ? possibly? but I have caught over 20 big bass in 8 houres of pulling break so don't seem that bad. in fact i think the blob floating behind boat brings them closer because of curiosity. Would I buy this one again! YUP

Get proper size to slow your boat
Had to get two sizes to see which would work best.

Excellent drift sock in heavy winds!
Overall I am very satisfied with the Lindy Drift Control Magnum 60" drift sock. It came with the harness and float attachment as well. The only thing that I was not happy with was the fact that some of the bright orange paint from the styro-foam float transferred to the drift sock and harness (which does not impact the socks' performance however from a cosmetic perspective it is not very pleasing to look at).

It's useful on light winds
I use it on fishing kayak. It slows you somewhat, but if wind is really liking up it doesn't help much. Will go to bigger diameter next year
