Deceptive advertising. Advertised as 1200 mbps. When 1200 is the model number not the speed. It is actually only 300 mbps. Sent it back.

Issues connecting on 5ghz UPDATE
I'll just get to the point. There seems to be an annoying issue where when connecting via 5ghz the device will enter into a loop where it turns on then disconnects itself for about five minutes before finally staying connected. If you connect via 2.4ghz it's ready to go almost as soon as your computer is booted up and logged in but on 5 somethings wrong.I bought this to replace an old single band adapter that was only able to get me 15-20 mbps down on the same network an iphone is able to pull 450mbps down effortlessly. This adapter does have better signal strength than my old one and it seems to be able to pull faster than my old one although not as much as expected. As far as that drop loop issue goes I've tried the drivers on the CD, drivers provided through device manager, drivers on realtek website and drivers from cudy. None of them make any difference. If this was anymore expensive than it was I would have given it 1 star. It eventually started working which is why I gave it two stars.UPDATE: 5Ghz no longer seems to be connecting at all, stay away from this.

These are very good quality adapters. Please read my review.
These usb wireless adapters are TRULY great quality compared to others. This is coming from an experienced IT professional. I've seen other reviews commenting about the title stating it supports 1200Mbps EVEN THOUGH in the photos it clearly says "up to 867Mbps for 5GHz and 300Mbps for 2.4GHz". AC1200 typically means square footage. You should always thoroughly read the description on a product. Don't read the title and assume that's the only information you need. If you're getting slower speeds after testing with this adapter, your wireless router also plays a part in speed. Make sure your router supports up to 1Gigabit speeds before writing a bad review on something that has absolutely nothing to do with the adapter. The title may be entered incorrectly, but doesn't change the fact it's a good product. :)

Hmmmm...
This unit was pretty easy to install once I could get the drivers loaded from the small disk sent with it. (I did check on the advertised site but the drivers were of the same vintage.) I've only gotten about 175mbps throughput down and 20mbps up with it. (I expected to get about 275mbps down, but I guess I have to realize that I'm using it on a USB 2.0 connection.) I purchased it to connect both a Windows 7 Ultimate and a Mac 10.13 OS. (Both work fine and the same.) I also purchased this specific one, because it was one of the only adapters that I saw specifically state that it worked on Windows, Mac, & Linux operating systems!THE MANUAL STATES THAT AN LED WILL LIGHT DURING DATA TRANSFER. THERE IS “NO” LED ON THIS DEVICE!!!Other than that;So far... So good!

It works well, so far
I bought this with the intention of using it on an SBC with Android TV which had a bundle of Realtek wireless drivers already installed, but sadly this device did not work with those drivers. I won't fault the device here, so lets move on to other more common use cases. When plugged into a Windows 10 machine it immediately was detected and the default drivers which Windows chose to use worked. I could see and connected to my 2.4G and 5G wifi access points. So that is fine. I then tried it on Linux Mint 20.1 and it did not work immediately. I checked the Cudy website and they had the Linux drivers and detailed instructions to get the kernel module built and working, so that's also a plus. It is now in a detached office that's a good 100+ feet away from the access point and it's working fine. I have seen some reviews where it is reported that the device has an issue dropping wifi, but I have not experienced this. These devices tend to die from heat, and this one is well ventilated, so I am optimistic that it will last a while. I will update my review if it starts acting up or stops working entirely any time soon.

Five stars when it works.
I don’t know whether it’s the usb antenna or Windows 10 but this thing was a PITA. I plugged it in, wasn’t recognized. Installed the driver. Said the driver wasn’t compatible with Windows. I u plugged the piece and restarted. The driver disk worked when the product wasn’t inserted. So I plug the product in. It gets signal. Works.....for about 15 minutes. Then no internet. Not even recognized by windows. I restart the computer. It’s not there. Unplug and plug. Works. 5 minutes later, no good. Returned and purchased an actual WiFi card that seems faster than the usb. When it worked, it was good. Not great but good. However when it stopped working in the middle of my FF Draft, I wanted to bury it.

Plug n play with great speed and signal strength
I needed a good WiFi solution for an HTPC downstairs as I couldn’t get a cat6 cable to it without some wall demo. I tried the powerline adapters, but they were garbage to be honest. I was only getting about 30Mbs max. I have gigabit internet, so that felt like a huge waste. Figured this wireless option was worth a shot for $15. I am very impressed with this adapter. It’s not quite as fast as my MacBook Pro, but it holds up well. From the same spot, my MacBook got around 400Mb/s. My iPhone XS hit about 300Mb/s. This adapter was getting about 230Mb/s. For the price, I say that’s pretty dang awesome. It has been reliable so far. Not a single drop. Full signal through one floor and two walls (probably 40 ft in distance) from the router. It was also plug n play on win 10. Just had to put in my WiFi password and was off and running.Overall, I’d say it’s a tough task to find a better device for the price. 10/10.
